The Apatow aspects were what made this episode so great (Hannah's call with her dad and the Laird part), but also bad in parts (I wasn't nearly in to the bombastic Adam chasedown at the end that abused score as Todd, and generally the decision to pair everyone up and just pretend everything is great).

I didn't mind that too much, it's the general problem that Nolan has shooting action and the lack of any humor or humanity in the scripts he pens. It's all ideas with no characters, and the ideas are so simplistic that it feels irrelevant.

"Pig, I'm going to kick you out of this house."

He looked a lot like a REN AND STIMPY character, right? Like, overtly so at times in a way that jars with the show's general animation aesthetic. Am I the only one who picked up on that?

These are legitimate questions.

Right? I've been saying that since their introduction. Did Blubs lose some weight?

I make the rules, sucka!

Apparently that line was originally supposed to be "Yes! Yes! Blind the child!" but then Disney censored it or something. It was still a great line.

I think they are all great, and in terms of pure artistry CHILDRENS is the best, but if I'm to pick one that would likely be the funniest I think it would have to be NEWSREADERS. It's formula is so easy that all efforts can be focused on cramming each episode full with great jokes..

Was wondering if the pairing of Cliff Martinez, loved score master of DRIVE, with inexplicably hated Skrillex would cancel each other out. Guess I underestimated silly Skrillex hate.

It's actually exactly like INCEPTION, except that it doesn't suck and the writer/director isn't a complete hack who makes aggressively terrible films! The thematic complexity and moralistic ambiguity also compliments the human core at the film's center. The comedy here all hits incredibly well. So yeah, exactly like

Glad I wasn't the only one to make note of this happy coincidence.

They aren't arrested under suspicion of armed robbery.

Not really. Franco said he based it on some Florida rapper. They are on a song together on the soundtrack. He also makes a cameo in the film. That guy looks a bit like Riff Raff too, but Riff Raff has been blowing shit up since Korine cut him out of a cameo appearance or whatever.

Between it, CHILDRENS, and NTSF I think NEWSREADERS is far and away the best.

We're talking about the same Tarsem Singh who made MIRROR, MIRROR and THE IMMORTALS, right? The same one who made all the Tarsem Singh films that aren't titled THE FALL?

Not really sure why. Maybe people hate HULK that bad, I guess. PI is fantastic and while TAKING WOODSTOCK isn't good, it also isn't offensively bad. Ang is great.

Thought THE AMERICANS was FX's not-quite-HOMELAND, and also their not-quite-MAD MEN, and also their not-quite-BREAKING BAD (though I guess it is better than BREAKING BAD, but most things are).

@avclub-a218f2953b0f1c125b8c64b37842ea22:disqus I'm not hating on it, I still think it's a great film, but it's definitely also a great entry in the Frat Boy Cinema cannon, much like PULP FICTION, FIGHT CLUB, or THE DARK KNIGHT (though none of those films are all that good, PF is probably QT's weakest. Still pretty

Assume this stays true to HBO's GoT and there's copious amounts of nudity, right?
