I think On_2 was referring to two of the shows most notoriously awful attempts to try something new - and both were epic fails. (Unlike Bollywood which has been both entertaining AND a great challenge for most dancers.) But yes, the "dreaded quickstep" is often one that takes out even the most brilliant competitors.

Well said! I agree - I don't think he's particularly worried about it becoming part of the traditional lexicon.

To be fair, Mike never seemed to hold a grudge on Sam for that at all. It was like he understood it was a part of the game they were all playing and it wasn't personal. And Sam was always pretty upfront about it and it never seemed to have a real impact on their friendship.

I think that was to make the balance of dancers between male and female more even. As we'd heard that more girls were sent home over the course of the week than boys, it stands to reason that they'd need to trim some guys before that last round to have a more even "pool" to select the top 20 from.

Right? I thought Mariah was really good and so likeable! I was really upset to see her go. Am definitely praying that she comes back next year and kills it.

While I thought Amelia's solo was brilliant and agreed that she should have been put through to the next round, I also agree that Nigel's note was a good and valuable one. The best dancers on this show have been chameleons - dancers that have been able to put on not only the moves but the character and charisma that

Agree. I remember him from past seasons and he's always seemed very lovely and upbeat. You can tell he's been working hard on his technical craft and I think he may have just been demoralized - not to mention exhausted. They push these dancers beyond any reasonable limit during Vegas week so I try not to take things

Well, group choreo may not be important but solo choreo certainly is. And I agree with Brass Tax that it is more a demonstration of learning how to work with other dancers and blend your styles together. I actually would have expected more groups last night to be brilliant because they got to self-select - and most

This is actually why I love the introduction of the "Meet the Top 20" show - I think it evens the playing field a bit for those dancers who didn't get a lot of screen time in Vegas or auditions. And you get a chance to see EVERYONE shine in their own genre before the competition starts. That way if someone gets a

That sounds about right. They added something new a few seasons ago - "Meet the Top 20" - that allows the audience to get to know the dancers a little more personally and to see them dance in their own styles before the competition officially begins. I think it's been a great addition to the program and actually
