Grand Theft Auto IV.  I loved Vice City, and enjoyed San Andreas, so I was surprised that IV was utterly joyless.  I didn't find Brucie funny at all, I hated the new phone system, but Liberty City generally struck me as a drab and unlikable place.  I did like Niko, but didn't care for anyone else in the game other

Agreed.  One of the most interesting things about the article is children trying to convince themselves that what they saw was good.  In walking out of the theater after The Naked Gun 33 1/3 I kept telling myself that I must have missed something.

I like to think that I terrified him with my devastating retort to the point where he will never return.

Leave dear old Porthos alone.  He's a good dog.

I thought Enterprise was quite good, but I would agree with Second Officers Cat.  'A Night in Sickbay' made me hate Captain Archer with a passion, which is tough for any character played by Scott Bakula.  I have entirely excised it from my personal canon.

I've never seen Farscape, but that reminds me of the Thermians in Galaxy Quest.  When walking, they swing their right arm in sync with their right leg and vice-versa, so as to emphasize their alienness.  It was a neat little character trope.

I watched the whole thing.

You may be right to post this for Thrasymachus' benefit, but I loved both of his analyses.  Therefore, I'm kind of glad that he thought the gimmick commenter was the actual JMS.

I did like the aliens, although the hunter alien was too scary.  I like that the orange alien has a big nose, but his smile has too sharp teeth.
The guy who can change his shape is the greatest.

'Frightened'?  Have you MET the Jem'Hadar?

There's another thing that's pretty damned important thing to do in the first season - establish normality; a template.  After establishing the characters and the rhythm of the series, they then go about subverting that paradigm.

I always thought that the Yridians were Yoruba, while the Sheliak were Tamils.

Bakula is best known for Star Trek?  I would have guessed Quantum Leap.

Agreed.  Cracked is good fun.  If you don't like it, don't read it, but disliking it does not grant you any kind of moral superiority.

Count me as another 'Past Tense' hater.  It's so terribly on the nose.

Maybe Morn was going to try and talk them out of it?  He is later established as absolutely lyrical in these kinds of situations.

Heck, I think Trip and T'Pol had a nice resolution, even if the journey was occasionally rocky.

The Enterprise Borg episode, 'Regeneration' is really quite good; give it a chance.

Not to mention that this is the first and only time we actually see Wolf 359, and not just the aftermath.  Those are some terrific special effects, right there.
