Agreed with Taran, and nice Lloyd Alexander reference there. But still, that first half was so fucking amazing that I'd be willing to at least debate its inclusion on the list.

Hot Fuzz is better. Shaun of the Dead is best if you hear what it's about but don't actually watch it. Sorta like Bubba Ho-Tep.

Spielberg is completely unable to not ruin a movie with the ending. If you chop the last 20 minutes off every movie he's made since around Saving Private Ryan, he's actually pretty good.

Didn't the AV Club have a list a while back of movies that are awesome but you can never watch them again? Dancer in the Dark is the apogee of that kind of movie.

Fuck you, I'm eating!

@Jordo: We did not, in fact, used to be cool, and I resent that implication.

I am also a defender of Unbreakable. I thought it was a pretty good movie.

For what it's worth, and in case anyone didn't know already, Grant Morrison was forced to wrap up his ginormous planned arc on X-Men early; "Here Comes Tomorrow" was the best he could do to wrap up at least a year's worth of stories in one arc. It'll always pain me to wonder what he would've done if they'd just let

Oh snap, Grant Morrison's run on X-Men actually was this decade. Yeah, that really oughtta be in there, batshit crazy ending and all.

To further whoever it was that defended mainstream comics, you know what I really dug the shit out of? The first and third arcs of Whedon's Astonishing X-Men.

Nothing wrong with rum & coke. Nothing right with it either; it's a boring but solid choice.

It's gonna star Oprah as the hooker, right? This'll be almost as sexy as Real Sex!

Yeah, this was absolutely hilarious until I realized it wasn't Neil Young. Props for a terrific impression, but it's only funny if it's really Neil.

No, I gotta be honest, I might go gay for Chang. That's a handsome man right there.

You can't blame him for failing on the Crank 2 commentary. That movie sucked. Shoulda stuck with Crank 1.

FINALLY, someone else agrees with me that The Mist was sortof awesome! Not sure if "excellent" is really the right word, but I sure had fun watching it.

Nicely put, Moses.

@Salivation: well, we're evolving in that we're getting physically stronger, taller, longer-lived, and many of us can process milk as adults. I think we'll continue to evolve: if we shape our environment to fit us, we find that different traits are valuable to us, thus evolution continues on its merry way.

Interesting. While I'd like to say I'll try that, I probably won't, but I will take your word for it.

Oh great, someone brought up Coldplay. So much for this intelligent conversation.
