better things
This is all very awesome. Excellent post, Jason Heller!

Tribute album
What do people think of that recent tribute album from Rykodisc? I think it's pretty sweet. Fountains of Wayne doing "Better Things," Josh Rouse doing "Well-Respected Man," and that version of "Waterloo Sunset" by Ray and Damon Albarn. It's worth picking up, even though Fastball is on it.

Wow, "cunt." Speaking of Dancing a Merry Jig On The Urine-Soaked Grave Of Feminism…

Laura Silverman
That was the receptionist from Dr. Katz?! Awesome!

Jack-ass
is the secret best track on Odelay. Just gorgeous. I'm glad "Deadweight" finally has a proper home, too.

Replacements
Seriously, how terrible was it to hear just a few seconds of "I Will Dare" before it was a) covered up by the (great) noise of Street and Herc fighting and b) cut off after thirty seconds? Boooo.

Meaningless is one of my all-time favorites. Just an incredible record.
idafc, what's the deal with The Home Demos? Was that officially released? Or did you torrent or something?

Good point! He could eradicate short people, too.

Many points
1) Randy Newman is God. I constantly have to defend his honor during Oscars broadcasts, and it's tiring. "Louisiana 1927" is among my favorite songs ever; he's a brilliant man.
2) If I remember correctly, the Mardi Gras incident is handled in Live From New York as a (very) failed experiment. I don't…

Flight of the Navigator
So, so good. And so, so bad.

I've seen there will be blood
And it's just as amazing as you've heard. See it!

west wing?
I know this is random and all, but I would have liked to hear him talk about being a strategist on west wing the last season. he played it totally straight, and it was interesting.

That may be the very first "first" worth making. Well done.

Wait
Do you work in my office?

Gay Witch Abortion
I was at a charity show featuring Gay Witch Abortion just the other night, but I left before they went on. Oh the regrets. (No, seriously, I've heard good things about them.)

I wish I had a story
that contained the sentence "I was wearing all these tied-up pants filled with corn and beans, trying to convince them that I wasn't a terrorist."

A-
I think that's a fair grade. It was full of some great moments (Jesse Plemons continues to rule). But good god, that scene between Santiago and Buddy was heinous. "You ain't my pops!" I mean, seriously? First "This is my first real bed," and now this?

yes, I'm pretty sure that's true about Murray. I also can't wait to see that.

er, make that unpredictabilty.

yeah, exactly. fuckin' Muppets.
