early SNL
I bought the first season and loved watching it, mostly as a cultural experience. I didn't expect it to be nearly as consistently brilliant as its reputation (and it wasn't), but I wanted to watch full episodes, and I finally got to.
I was also very curious to see what didn't work, and why - is it because of

oh god, that's one of the best moments in the series. kills me every time.

BANTER!

oh, totally!

This news
Makes me want to make tiny dollhouse furniture.

Thankstaking
I've had the Thanksgiving sodas. I have tasted nothing worse in my 27 years on this planet.

I totally agree. Moving it to ESPN is a great idea, unless NBC somehow makes the above changes, which I don't think will ever happen.

Meh.
I don't think this season is as bad as Mr. Tobias, but it's definitely inferior to season 1. Things they need to get back to:
1) More football. I'm not a football fan, but it's the thing that keeps these characters going, and there isn't any. WTF, I say.
2) Landry as comic relief. They're handling his plotline

Iraq
I liked the idea of that plotline, but I found its non-subtlety super-annoying. The only part I really liked was the (GENIUS) toppling of the Jefferson Davis statue. By the end when Jack did his "cut and run" speech, the whole thing had more than run its course.

Bargain
I just bought a two-pack of Fargo and Raising Arizona at Target for $10. What a steal! They look like they're the normal versions, too, with all the normal extras.
I'm just sayin'.

I agree with everything above, and if you want some timeless comedy for your iPod: try "In Retrospect" by Mike Nichols and Elaine May. It's improv, but it's absolutely astounding, and basically sounds like really well-written, witty, dry, sketch comedy. And it's from the late fifties/early sixties.

After his "prime"
LA Story. LA Story. LA Story.

However, Daniel Handler (aka Lemony Snicket) plays accordion with Magnetic Fields very often, and is featured on 69 Love Songs.

Lobsters, I applaud your unintentional typo "Bing Cosby." There's a Jell-O/sweater/White Christmas joke here somewhere, but I don't know what it is.

lexicondevil, nice! I'm from Acton. WFNX is great.

You didn't answer the question
When can I marry Amy Adams?

A bottle of the very snark that prompted the comment! Congratulations!

Billy Joel's "Tell Her About It"
I remember I was driving my car in high school, and it came on the radio. It was like everything changed for me, in those three minutes of groundbreaking, abstract musical utopia. The atonality of the piece was complemented by the simplicity of its message, and I was mesmerized about

God, Tim is just amazing, isn't it? I like it more than Let It Be. Yeah, I know I'm a jerk.

Oh and
Bruce Springsteen's Born In The USA. That whole "last night I heard your voice" section of "Downbound Train" scared the shit out of me when I was six, but I didn't know why.
