It's owned by Hasbro and puts out (not surprisingly) cartoons based on toy lines.

I'm assuming Second City is the main Chicago feeder, right? It lists a half dozen members in their main ensemble 1 of whom is black (male). They seemed to be doing pretty well gender wise. Also, fwiw, they have a director for diversity outreach and make a big deal about such on their webpage.
I glanced at the

I've only seen her on The Daily Show, but she strikes me as quick witted but a bit self-conscious when it comes to acting/delivery.

"A site written by dates has no responsibility for diversity."

Seriously, why do even the off-topic comments have exactly 1 down vote. It seems like a bizarre combination of obsessiveness and kneejerk reaction. (Which, now that I've typed that seems like an apt description of the internet.)

I don't see any down downvotes or upvotes on your Hardy Boys slashfic comment. Were they there before and magically vanished?

Hmm, makes me wonder if Korean Americans are the source of the urban legend that "Koreans loved (or alternately banned) Joannie love Chachi because of the sex pun".

I don't think they ever heard about 'Joannie Loves Chachi'. Its never aired anywhere near Korea, and is fairly obscure even in America.

Raising Hope is a good counter-example (Killing Zoe might also be, I haven' sen it). Crossing Jordan, Judging Amy, and others show it's an uphill battle. (IMO) Chasing Amy was terrible but Raising Arizona was good… maybe 'raising' is just a gerundive of higher quality.

I think we agree that (a) the primary education in America is facing serious problems and that (b) a strong middle class is the best solution. But, the article is about rates of change, and the study it links to shows the relatively obvious fact that the lower a country/state is the easier it is to affect change.

The AV Club

I've only passed through Arizona once (going back to Ca from the grand canyon). But I appreciated that Flagstaff has an actual drive-through liquor/gun store. There's no way that combination could possibly end poorly.

But the AV Club has had multiple articles about Wikileaks and got no (legitimate) NWO/Illuminati posters. And the article about the Atlas Shrugged kickstarter got plenty of political vitriol and pro-Ayn Rand sockpuppets coming from other boards. I don't see how the addition of up/down voting changes anything.

A couple of thoughts:
1) Horror themed/related tv show doing really in October should come as a surprise to absolutely nobody.
2) Character driven drama is appeals a little to a lot of people, but not nearly as much one might think. AMC has had three hit shows that paired character driven drama with action (Breaking

A plain orange helmet, just kind of sitting there doing nothing…

No good has ever come of Gerunding Female-Name.

I took his meaning as an 'odd verb', which is not at all what he said. I think he was trying to explain that 'lay' is not only transitive but can't take humans as objects (which isn't true but is close). Like the way 'hanged' vs 'hung' works.

I agree with you about April.  I liked this plot for her, but she needs Andy to be a funny character and growth/maturation to be an asset to the show.
