I think In The Night Garden was more the spiritual successor to Teletubbies. Foam-suited, gibberish-spouting characters wandering aimlessly around a park and riding in a farting zeppelin, being narrated by the soothing tones of Derek Jacobi? When my kid used to watch it I could barely make it through the opening

Don’t you dare compare Bob Ross to Thomas Kincaid!

Oh man, I had that game. I was so stoked when I bought it and enjoyed it for about an hour before realizing it was fucking impossible to play and just a complete mess.

Thanks for that recommendation – I generally kind of prefer short stories over novels since as I mentioned I have a hard time finding time to read, so smaller chunks of reading work best for me. Gonna look for that one!

This man has no Disqus?

You guys better lay off the Streisand jokes or Dyess-Nugent’s gonna come in here and start complaining.

Nearly finished with Michael Chabon’s Telegraph Avenue, which I’m really enjoying but haven’t had a lot of time to read lately.

Wow, The Orenda sounds pretty awesome… as a kid my favourite family field trip was our annual pilgrimage to Sainte-Marie Among The Hurons, a recreated Jesuit/Indian village in Midland, Ontario that had been burned down by the Iroquois (or possibly by the fleeing Hurons before the Iroquois attacked?) so an epic novel

Yeah, I missed out on them as a kid too and was maybe 20 when I finally got around to them (at my older sister’s insistence, who somehow hadn’t missed them and couldn’t believe I’d never read them), and even at that age I really loved that series (although I made sure to only read them in the privacy of my own home).

See, I gave Ricky a like just because the word “boobs” was in his comment.

BTW, anyone in the Toronto area – Sloan are playing the Burlington Sound of Music Festival this weekend. Free show, lots of other bands playing all weekend long (including TROOPER!):

Yep. I’ve been scrolling through here looking for the Jane’s Addiction thread to say this very thing. “Had a Dad” is definitely about god.

Holy shit, there’s a Superchunk cover of “Cruel Summer” and I haven’t heard it? What have I been doing with my life?

At one point I worked in a department of two people of opposite genders and had to do an employee engagement survey that asked your department and gender. Yep, real anonymous.

Toots and the Maytals – Broadway Jungle
Old 97s – The Streets of Where I’m From
Hepcat – Riding The Region
Dinosaur Jr – Little Fury Things
The Men – Going Down

Uh-oh. They may be onto me…

I may just be weird, but I actually kind of like helping people move. You don’t have to do any of the terrible parts of moving (packing! coordinating! living out of boxes!) you just show up, put shit on a truck, go to another location, take shit off a truck. And then your friends give you beer and pay for pizza.

Holy shit. He’s the Burger-Meister Meister-Burger!
