Yeah, those are probably the first three tracks I'd pick too… seems we both prefer the songs sung by the dude over those sung by the shrieky chick.

Oh man, I feel really bad for Helmet right now.

We're actually listening to that Danzig album in my office right now (and I didn't even pick it this time!)

Upvoted for Sons and Daughters! Great fucking band!

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers – Goldfinger (Live)
Screaming Trees – Nearly Lost You
De La Soul – Potholes In My Lawn
Yaz – Situation
Sonic Youth – Kool Thing

Shuffle Thread is the best. I seriously look forward to scouring it for new music to seek out every week.

I seem to recall that he left the music business after Jawbreaker broke up to concentrate on a writing career, only to return to music with Jets To Brazil a few years later…. so not sure whatever happened there.

That guy was joking though… right? Please?

SPOILER ALERT: It's Scrawler's Grandma

Ha! When we moved into our current house there was some hideously busy floral wallpaper in the small bathroom downstairs and I used to find myself sitting on the crapper trying to mentally untangle all the intertwining vines and thinking back to that story.

Do it! That's probably my favourite King book, all things considered and there's no better month than October to scare yourself witless with a good book!

YOU WANNA PIECE O' ME?

Bad chicken! Mess you up!

You left out the best part of the "I'm gonna hit ya, and you're gonna fall!" bit… the "And I'm gonna LAAAAAUUGH!"

Yep, glad to see this one mentioned.
I first read it as a kid (it was in an old book of "ghost stories" I found at my family's cottage) and while I didn't grasp the underlying feminist angle or even fully get what was going on it freaked me the hell out.

I can't remember the name of the story but there's one with a retired literary agent telling the tale of one of his clients slowly losing his mind and hallucinating about little creatures living inside his typewriter… I remember not really liking it when I read it as a teenager because it wasn't about supernatural

I have to admit to agreeing with HDB up to a point – for a lot of years (namely the mid-'90s to early '00s) I avoided anything Hanks was in because I was sick of his nice guy persona and Oscar-bait movies and I'm still not really a fan of his movies from that era (I've also gone on the record as not particularly

@avclub-618fd0370047b25592c8a7db0ff8a9c0:disqus First off, I don't feel right "liking" this post so let me just say I'm sorry you had to go through that, and thank you for posting it.

My older sister still bitches that she fought for her freedom to be able to go out and rebel and I didn't even take full advantage of that freedom when it was my turn.

No you don't. You don't ever have to listen to that fucking song.
