Some Kind of Munster

Holy shit, is this making me giggle.

I had a reasonably good time in high school – I had a handful of close friends and was on friendly terms with pretty much everyone else – but I discovered when I started college that I only really kept in touch with maybe 4 people from there (nearly 20 years later I'm only in occasional contact with two of them – and

Stop giving me ideas!

I'm just about to start "A Dance With Dragons"… I've been told it was better than the 4th one so I'm optimistic, but yeah… I'm getting pretty sick of a lot of these fuckin' people.

Friends brought over a 6 of Lucky Buddha on the weekend. The beer was pretty nondescript (comparable to Heineken, I guess) but it comes in a pretty cool bottle shaped like a Buddha if that's the kind of thing you're into.

Yeah, I like it once in a while but it's definitely a one-and-move-on-to-something-else beer for me.

I'm always kind of proud of myself when we run out of all the booze at once – I feel like I'm a well-rounded individual with a balanced diet.

Heh. We listened to Wakin' On a Pretty Daze all afternoon in the office yesterday (and everyone was happy enough about it).

Pavement – Summer Babe (Winter Version)
Screaming Trees – Story of Her Fate
Kermit the Frog – Pictures in my Head
Johnny Cash – Wreck of the Old 97
The Ventures – Hawaii 5-0 Theme

We had leftover garlic cheese bread from the previous night's dinner, so on Saturday I made my favourite heart-attack breakfast sandwich, "Le Spécial Danny" (must be said with an exaggerated French-Canadian accent, and preferable accompanied by some "oh honh honh honh"-style honking French laughter): a sub consisting

I saw Carlin in the early '00s and had the same kind of experience… his "greatest hits" with some bitter old man griping in between. I don't think I laughed at all but everyone around us seemed to be eating it up.

Yeah, I'm not usually one to whine about disagreeing with a reviewer (I've only heard this album once and while nothing on it immediately grabbed me the way some of her earlier ones did, I thought it was pretty strong) but that bit about intervening deserves to be called out. Completely irrelevant to a professional

What @avclub-bde03a31feb6259716046ea17db6e426:disqus said. I'm of the opinion that they were secretly the best band to come out of that Seattle scene.

Nice – there are two of us! I love Barkmarket and finally got my hands on a digital copy of Gimmick and L. Ron recently after losing my taped copies years ago.

That's probably their best song, but if you like it that whole album, Meantime, and its followup Betty are really good (I probably like Betty more – it's a bit more diverse and less grinding).

Did I ever tell you about the time I met Matthew Good and he w…. zzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I tend to like his Mark Lanegan Band stuff best – last year's Blues Funeral has really grown on me, to the point where my coworkers will no longer allow me to listen to it in the office because they're so sick of it.

@avclub-6beb5f589a9fd04c21fcd50db3d9c80c:disqus To be honest, as much as this music was the fabric of my life throughout the '90s, you're probably not going to find anything better than Bad Religion and the Misfits.

That's how I always felt reading the "Loud" articles, but now it's my time to shine!

@TheSensitiveGhostOfSethPu:disqus Didn't the Weakerthans actually re-record one of those ("Anchorless", maybe?) on their first album?
