Yep, that's my running plan too… I've devised a route where I can bail at certain points and take the short way home OR do the whole distance. So when I start dragging my ass I go "OK, I'll just run to the next shortcut" and then when I get to the short cut I go "Well, maybe I can make it to the next one" and USUALLY*…

Oryx and Crake is awesome, and yes I think going in blind is for the best. A lot of it really won't make much sense until later but it's a pretty easy read nonetheless.

I'm about a third of the way through and finding it pretty fucking dull too. Lots of characters are popping up who I think I'm supposed to remember and normally I'd refer to the appendix or skim back through to try and figure it out but I've discovered I no longer care.
