i like to wear American Apparel t-shirts because they fit and have no logos and their briefs (for the nice colors) and because the store is filled with cute girls.  I also went to art school a long time ago.  But then I hang out here all day long.  How do I fit into this outdated complaint of "hipster" bashing?  I

I was a reclusive douchebag way before it got popular.

I was going to say something similar.  But now I'll just comment here anyway.  I need people to know I thought that, too.

Ahh, to be young again. . .  Watching Wild Orchid on a late night movie channel, sweaty left hand on the remote, thumb over the previous channel button ready to switch back to the midnight showing MST3K at the first sound of creaking floorboards or the furnace starting up. Good times.

@avclub-10309c857c6dcd2c0322867b20c2a424:disqus - Down on the Upside was ok.  Blow Up the Outside, Burden in My Hand and Overfloater are pretty great.  And honestly, I've never listened to 808s.  I'll get around to it on Spotify after I listen to the rest of the Townes van Zandt albums I haven't heard.

I think my main problem with the movie was that there wasn't enough Apatow bloat.  And also the criminal misuse of Tim Heidecker.

Team Vollmann.  I'm still waiting for that Europe Central TV show I have in my head to be made.

I'll listen to Kayne's stuff 20 years from now.  Probably more than I'll have a need to listen to Down on the Upside.

My mom used to work with Dave Casper in the 90's.  It was at a life insurance company in Edina.  I didn't know who he was then, and I'm not sure who he is now.  He may have played with the Vikings, but I don't really follow professional catch.  I like those Sklar Bros, though.

You'll have to wait 15 minutes for your next boot quaking.

I didn't. But now I do.  Thanks.

I agree.  I was surprised by how much I liked the interview.  I was tearing up trying not to laugh to loud at work during his Will Smith story.  If there's one thing the Brand/Kreischer interviews have taught us, it's that heavy amounts of self-awareness is key to liking the obnoxious party guys.

My wife and I danced to "Chemical Wire" at our wedding.

I'm fine with that.  Cute girls and free iPads for everyone!

I went to see JSF do a reading/talk when Everything is Illuminated came out.  It wasn't bad, the book or the talk.  The best thing to come out of all that though was an offhand comment he made about Helen DeWitt's The Last Samouri.  Which I then read and is awesome.

You're right, TSA is the gross waste of time at the airport.  I'm not a fan of what most airlines do in the planes either, but that's mostly an aesthetic thing.  I'm always confused by how ugly and tacky and uncomfortable an airplane can be.  Though I did have a nice flight on Iceland Air once.  Maybe if I were a rich

Wait, Jesus, you're in mpls?  Let's walk down Hennepin and high five sometime.

People throwing fits is annoying.  But just shrugging your shoulders at the airlines slowly making flying a more unsettling and disgusting waste of everyone's time and privacy is worse.  That's the reason we have full body scanners and long lines of people standing in their socks.

Remake Bewitched?  You have been out of the country a while!
