alien
Isn't Alien pretty much based on 2001 already? I believe Ridley Scott says as much on a commentary track somewhere.

These Days
It's getting to be these days that if it costs more than a couple bucks, I'm likely to not see it, hear it or read it. I'm a poor boy, long way from home.

i know a couple girls who still bring up moments, years later, when they fell down somewhere. like they fell backwards in a chair or something. that's how they remember certain events. nobody remembers but them, and nobody cared when it actually happened. basically what i'm saying is: girls are dumb.

A new regular feature by Noel Murray?
I'm sold!

Fabulous!
The pink tie says "I'm Indie rock!", the North Face jacket says "Maybe not".

A friend of mine had free tickets to go see Daredevil, so I got no beef with this kid. Or do I owe him ten bucks? Subsequently, that friend with the free tickets went to jail for credit card fraud and identity theft and eventually trying to rob a bank.

glasses
nobody in their 20's or 30's should be allowed to wear glasses.

He's from a remote mountain top village. They don't use their thumb when counting, you've never heard of it.

Anything with Elliot Gould.

airplane!
I watched this on an airplane while crossing the Atlantic. I found it agreeable for air travel (if you're going to be sitting in the same chair for 8+ hours, it's a good time eater). Sadly, I believe it was the only movie they had that was worth watching. I then ended up watching it silently a few more

This is nice
I consider this good news. For Canada, I guess. And Bittorrent.

nice review
this was a very nicely written review, nathan.

Eyes Wide Shut 2: Couples Retreat?

maybe they wanted a happier ending. you know, with mr. gabriel realizing how much he loves his wife- end film. no subtle emotional shift into a quiet existential epiphany where a man realizes he can never truly know the woman he loves; while outside the world moves on, indifferent to our own inner struggles. i

i believe you can find the interview in A Disease of Language, the collection of "performance comics" the two did together, if the original comic proves hard to find.

Big hitter, the Lama.

Whaling
Is this one with the giant petroleum jelly sculpture and Matthew Barney and Bjork cutting each others legs off?

I watched most of Duplicity on a plane, but the seatback monitor-thingy stopped working and I missed the entire third act. I ended up watching 17 Again without sound over somebody's shoulder. I liked both well enough from what I saw to consider revisiting them when I have the opportunity. So that's what I think.

I could never make it through Buffy, but for some reason I really liked Angel. Probably because of Amy Acker.

No no, it's still a fine book. I just found that, rather than opening my eyes to a new way of thinking, it simply coincided with a number of views I already have regarding mortality, destiny v. free will, time, war, literature, etc. . . I'll certainly read more Vonnegut down the line.
