Possibly a coincidence, but here in California I just saw Jerry Brown's secret police haul away my uncool niece.

Jesus Christ you guys, you make it sound like if they actually tried to be faithful the *only* people who would go see it would be the book readers one a literal one-for-one basis. That's ridiculous.

This really is a terrible loss and not just to the comics community.

How has that been shown time and time again exactly? The book sold over a million copies, that's pretty far outside the realm of some obscure cult book with "neckbeard fans".

He (and Imperioli, I think) really showed that acting in a television drama could be on the level of a great film.

Bill McDermot and Bill Mulroney are the two that always get me.

Mike's a better performer and a great writer but Joel is the soul of the show. I mean, MST3K was his idea and he even built the robots himself, it's all based on his sensibility. Even after Joel left it feels like we're inside his brain, not Mike's.

I'm gonna assume you were these kids' age in the 90s. Or thereabouts. You grew up with 50s, 60s and 70s TV reruns and movies because that stuff was bountiful on UHF and cable. There were also plenty of references to those time periods in popular entertainment because the then-middle-age Baby Boomers were running

Mr. Modell let Phil Collins' friend drown and he could have helped him but he didn't. Then Phil Collins saw him in the front row of a concert and improvised "Susudio."

I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation

Yeah, I like it when shows/movies use music their characters would actually listen to instead of going for stuff the creator likes or thinks is clever (the Shield's use of the Magnetic Fields, for example..) It's just way more immersive and there's always something to finding the beauty in something you always thought

Ask that question again on August 11 in the Breaking Bad discussion and let's see how well the Shield fares.

Also worse: David Yow's junk.

Honestly how far is this, really, from Girl Talk?

I would also accept Exile's "Kiss You All Over"

It's much closer to this generation's "Escape: The Pina Colada Song."

I don't know what hits you're talking about with these "hits"— "The Flame"? Yes, that sucks. It's a song originally written for Cher that they were pretty much forced to do by their label at the end of their run. "Dream Police?" Okay, that's a little dumb.

Excuse me, mr. "Matt Wild", but how could you possibly have been 6 years old in 1984 when your one-hit wonder song "Break My Stride" came out in 1983?

Oh yeah, him. I didn't recognize him without the hockey mask.

@InterplanetJanet:disqus you're either misreading my comment or intentionally misquoting me to make your point. I didn't say she was going to call the cops, in fact we agree on what her intentions were. I was commenting on how much more gravity those kinds of accusations have in 2013.
