COOL HAND LUKE
Axl's not the only one obsessed with Cool Hand Luke and Paul Newman movies in general. John Cougar Mellencamp, on Scarecrow, paraphrases the "Callin' it your job don't make it right, boss" line from CHL and "Lonely Ol' Night" comes directly from Hud.

How about
…a taste test of the old Laverne & Shirley favorite, milk + Pepsi. I'm getting grossed out just thinking about it. I think I tried it when I was a little kid, but I don't remember what it tasted like. Probably blocked it out.

Fun House
The argument I always make whenever anyone talks about whatever the greatest rock album is, is that the Stooges' "Fun House" is THE GREATEST GODDAMN ROCK & ROLL ALBUM EVER RECORDED.

LEGACY
Abby is a legacy. Her dad was a '95, Chris Elliott. Legacies usually get asked to join automatically.

106 minutes? Sweet. I really liked Casino Royale, but it overstayed its welcome a bit at 145 minutes or whatever it was. Maybe this signals the end of the two-and-a-half-hour action movie trend. Tight, compact, and to the point, baby. That's where it's at.

I was in junior high, dickhead!

MY FAVORITE
My favorite moment was Barney addressing God with "What up?"

I CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHERE I KNOW HER FROM
I know her face, but I IMDB'd her and I haven't seen anything she was in except for "Undeclared" and I know I've seen her more recently than that. I never watched "Buffy" and she was on "House" which I've seen a couple of episodes of, but I know it's not that either.

DOC MARTENS, IDIOT
That's one of the best interviews I've read in a while. Nabin and Rudd seemed perfectly simpatico humor-wise. Great job, Nabin.

IF I NEVER, EVER AGAIN…
see an image of Lee Atwater making the duck-lips while wearing sunglasses and wielding a Gibson SG, it will be way too fucking soon. A painful death from a brain tumor was too good for this guy.

THE APATOWIZATION OF KEVIN SMITH
About time, if you ask me.

My TV Diary entry from May 1, 1983
"Saw V."

I liked that too, F. Arty. I'm not a Ted hater, but he is my least favorite character. However, there are moments like that that turn me into a Ted appreciator. The other one was a few weeks ago when Ted was trying to convince Stella to move into the city with him, and she sarcastically says something like, "Oh

That was my favorite single moment of the episode. That quote has already been filed away in my head for future use and I'll be reminded of it every time I hear or see the word "Namaste," much like the way I say "You got girlfriend Vietnam?" every time I hear "These Boots are Made for Walkin'" thanks to "Full Metal

Looks like W. is getting beaten by…The Secret Life of Bees? OK, I've heard of that, but I'm not sure what it's about, having seen no ads for it. I know it's a period piece and Queen Latifah is in it and it has something to do with bees, that's it. And it's beating the latest Oliver Stone opus. Is there any better

I DIDN'T READ THE BYLINE BEFORE I STARTED READING
…but by the end of paragraph one I knew it was Nathan because if I had been drinking milk at the time it would have spurted out my nose.

The Killing of a Chinese Bookie
Why is Criterion releasing it again? It was released on the "John Cassavetes: Five Films" box set a couple of years ago.

That dude in Tennessee
I'm betting he was wearing camouflague on his body somewhere. I'm also guessing that in the same yard where the McCain-Palin sign is, there is a vehicle up on blocks, perhaps a Trans Am.

He's becoming "one with the show." It's a Zen thing.

Nah, it's not a silent movie. They just play over the existing soundtrack, probably mixing the original down a little; you can still hear it at times, but the mixture is cool. In the dance party scene above, they played "The Modern Dance" and it fit perfectly.
