Oliver and Colbert have great comedic chemistry. It was quite an enjoyable interview to watch. Nice to see Oliver put away the self righteous indignation for a few minutes to entertain us again. Well if we focused on this issue we'd find both parties have different reasons for supporting criminal reform. Republicans want to reduce government and Liberals want to reduce punishments. Even if those aren't the exact motivations surely we can agree that they're looking at the issue from different points of view.

He hasn't even covered Buzzfeed yet and your already complaining. Cable news and TV in general is declining in relevance. As the years go by people are less likely to be interested in getting into a show that is percieved to only mock Fox News. An outlet they'll probably not care too much about.
