My nieces, when they were about 10 or 11, had a classmate whose father was a foreign ambassador. He was getting reassigned to another country, so all the kids went to a leaving party at the ambassadorial residence — very posh, very classy. For me it was probably something from Frasier. I used to be allowed stay up late and watch it with my parents on Friday nights, and partly I felt grown-up, and partly mortified because there'd always be some sex joke I either didn't get, or I did get it and that was even more embarrassing.
