I don't watch religiously, but over the past year or so I've felt like it's really starting to be more like Late Night.  At first it seemed like he was trying to keep the toned-down Tonight Show version of his show going for some reason, but he seems to have finally realized he's not hosting TTS anymore and the

Ugh, Mask scared the fuck out of me as a kid.  That probably makes me a horrible person, but anytime Rocky was on-screen I was ready to hide my eyes and run from the room.

Seems that they are, but over 200 locations were closed in the '90s and early '00s when they went through bankruptcy.  Apparently they're still around on the west coast and in other countries, though.

You and me both, brother.  I forgot that was him - that's the one where he was pretending to be a film and poetry geek or something to trick Carol because he thought she was the most popular girl in school?  I've wasted my life.

Heh, I loved Six Pack as a kid.  I get the feeling I'm probably better off not looking at it again.

Oh god, yes.  Doesn't Zack have a complete breakdown when he finds a dead duck covered in oil?  (And why were there ducks on the football field anyway?)

They should have picked the Pitt episode of Growing Pains, where he plays Ben's favorite super-cool rock star, Jonathan Keith.  Ben loves him, but once he gets to meet him backstage he finds out that he's an asshole who cheats on his wife that he wrote all his songs about!  Ben is furious and runs home to break all

I never took it from the DVD commentaries that the writers were bitching per se, just that they were incredibly hard to write usually and the pitches back and forth in the room would go on so long that everyone would wind up tired and frustrated by the end.

Dunno if the TV edit of "The Thing" is out there or not, but I've noticed that Carpenter does seem to enjoy releasing the TV edits of his films, so I imagine it may show up sooner or later.  I know there's DVDs with the TV versions of Halloween 1 and 2 and I'm thinking perhaps Escape From New York as well.

The performances are still intact on Comedy Central's still-endless reruns of the show.  I suppose you could record them and edit the footage back into the uncensored episodes from the DVDs.

You're gonna hate me because I can't remember where I saw it, but there's some Doors documentary out there that includes a lot of footage from that film (was the title "HWY" or something like that?).  I'm wanting to say it was some older documentary instead of that newer one narrated by Johnny Depp, but I just don't

China Beach is being released soon from (I think) Shout Factory.  I believe the press release said they were even able to license "almost" all of the music.

These are out there on torrents.  Myself, I recorded all of the last few weeks as they aired and burned them to DVD.  Truly some of the most fun TV I've ever seen in an *actual* "we just don't give a fuck anymore" vein.

There's a few old Conan episodes out there on torrents, but not many (at least that I found, but I haven't looked in a few years.)  I found the first episode and some from '97-'99-ish though, and I'm sure there's some 00-era episodes around.

@Juan_Carlo:disqus As I understand it, the original negatives indeed were "destroyed" to some extent, but not to the point that it can't be fixed.  I forget where I read it, but somewhere online there's an extensive description of exactly how the 1997 Special Editions were made and what I took away from it is that the

Heh, isn't that weird how cockroaches like VHS tapes?  I was once given a ton of tapes and found that one of them was broken, but it would be an easy and quick repair job since it had just separated from the "leader" part of the tape, so I opened it up and several roaches came scurrying out as soon as I lifted the

Reel-to-reel tapes are actually apparently making a small vinyl-type comeback.  I was reading today where some audiophile reissue company is putting out pricey, very-limited edition albums on R2R and that the prices of old R2R tapes have shot up over the past year or so after being dirt-cheap for decades.  You may be

Dunno, I'd bet it was probably done on 35mm though (though I suppose the quality of the film stock itself may have been cheaper than what Hollywood would have used) but coulda been 16mm.  Either way, the old PD DVD I saw of it looked like it came straight off of a VHS tape, complete with tracking issues.  This new

Thing not mentioned in review that somebody might care about:  This is the first official release of this movie.  The DVDs that have been available forever were all cheapo public-domain issues from inferior sources.  From what I've heard this one comes from the original elements and is a huge improvement over all the

The thing about DAC though is that way too many people judge him by those two albums, and they don't really represent him at all.  The man recorded some of the best country albums of his time and they always get overlooked because of the silly dirty songs (and in response to Final Girl, yes, these were intentional
