I thought it was pretty clear that Jessica (the redhead who left the show in season 4) was only bringing Will down because she had been dancing through a major injury (broken/dislocated ribs) that had finally gotten bad enough to take her out of the competition.

Because the judges and the choreographers are the only constants on the show, so they're starting to believe that THEY are the important part of the show.

"Snoopy Dancing Xander" really is just dragging "Shiny Nickel Xander" down, that's the whole point: One is all his strengths, one is all his weaknesses. The good one is literally "too good to be true" by having basically no flaws, while the other is a big ball of flaws without real redeeming qualities.

The major problem with Angel (the show) is that Angel (the character) is like the ur-Whedon character: he literally has a curse that requires him to stay unhappy. It seems like sometimes the show forgets Angel's deeply disturbing past while remembering that he's not allowed to be happy, which turns him into a big emo

Let's be honest. What the hell would you say if you were 18 and suddenly pinned to the wall with such a question? The honest answer is probably somewhere along the lines of "Hot and puts out".

You're really going to be surprised when next season is retitled "So you think you Contemporary Dance?"

The idea that the girl who plays Escapade probably has a "hovering stage mother" more like than unlike Mullally's character pales in comparison to the levels of discomfort achieved in the Orgy Night episode when they cast an actress to stand around topless holding a tray of condoms and lube … while ranting about how

But the turtle is so MEAN.

Reformat these things
TWO HUNDRED people make it to Vegas. Yet we see maybe 50 auditions total, the vast majority of which don't make it to Vegas.

Reminds me of a David Cross bit
"Hella" Hung definitely reminded me of David Cross talking about the people in LA who get more and more weird in a desperate attempt to get cast as "hey that wacky guy!" in some movie.

Seriously. Scott Pilgrim is supposed to be awkward, with a healthy dose of compensatory overconfidence.

"computer solitaire" has a specific connotation to me. Since it's the crappiest version of solitaire (Klondike) that's only played because it's on the computer, so it's discreet and you don't have to worry about messing up the cards.

Victor: Fair to Low amount, actually, considering the statistics for US television consumption.

This season they're changing up the format (again), but it's basically a Dance version of American Idol, with all the filler and judge comments and everything. Except with Cat (motherfucking) Deeley as the host instead of the vat-grown hostmonster that is Seacrest, which makes it infinitely better. And it's dancing,

This show straddles the line between Curb and Concords. In just about every possible way.

I didn't mean to say that linear makes narrative work better, I meant to say that it appears as though at some point (probably around FF8 or 9) the game started being written as a SCRIPT, and not as a STORY.

The games keep getting more and more linear because they keep getting more and more narrativist, which really has little impact on how story-oriented they are.

He's maybe not a dick, but he's definitely becoming more and more callous as the season goes on. He's gaining the cynicism towards the "nerd lifestyle" of Penny, with the intimate knowledge that lets him be more subtly hurtful than an outsider can be.

Let's be clear on something: they "went after Memaw" by pointing out that she was once a young, sexually active woman. It would be like taunting Sheldon with the fact that the Tooth Fairy isn't real.

Really? That's what bothers you the most? Not that Chuck continuously whines about not being taken seriously as a spy while at the same time whining about not wanting to sacrifice his personal/family life to "the job" (which every other spy he's met has done as a matter of course).
