Agreed. I was genuinely curious and kind of excited for VHS, mostly because of the AV Club review, and holy crap was I disappointed. Actually, mad. The wrapper of that movie was terrible in conceit and execution, the shorts were silly, and any time one of them approached interesting, it was derailed by terrible acting

I'd like to hear this post read by James Earl Jones. It deserves the gravitas.

Somebody got into the Fun Dip.

Yeah, when I ordered my third one the waitress left, then came back and said, "The bartender wants to know if you're aware that this is, like 14%." Hell yes I do. But this was a once in a lifetime event, so go ahead and bring me that last one.

For my money, the Lagavulin 16 is the bar against which all other scotches are measured.  It's a nicely balanced scotch that has all of the basic traits of a scotch without being too overpowering in any one area.

If you can find Goose Island's Bourbon County Stout, it'll change your life. For me, that beer is the pinnacle of the bourbon barrel craze.  It's tough to find so grab it if you do.

@avclub-8288999e960ebe6aca280a2c31f5645b:disqus I just panicked reading that part about turning around. You are better than I!

There used to be plenty of decent squealies until Zakk Wylde stole them all. Now we're lucky if we even get a decent whammy bar dive.

I was pumped when I saw that tweet from Wittels.

Agreed. But it does remind me why I'll always gloss over the fact that he was in Herbie: Fully Loaded when I discuss his awesomeness.

How awesome was last week's WTF with Michael Keaton.  That was the first time in a long time that I've been actively excited for a guest on WTF (and even enjoyed that the intro segment to the Fountains of Wayne interview was just spent hyping Keaton's appearance).  Keaton seems like a great guy, is an interesting

That episode was amazing. The Connivers revelation was one of the funniest things I've heard on Who Charted.  Howard Kremer is a goddamn national treasure and that episode was gold.

If memory serves, I think Miller technically got the "co-directed" tag in the first Sin City as well.  Something about Rodriguez using Miller's comics as the storyboards.

Yesterday I cracked open a bottle of Souther Tier's Krampus, an Imperial Helles Lager. It was one of the better IPAs I've had, with bonus points given for the fact that it's not an IPA.

@avclub-e129a878f7b0e5aa9ac09e0282f64ea6:disqus I think "yikes" best describes my reaction to the first half, too.  I started reading Sedaris with Naked and MTPOD and then found my way to Barrel Fever. Was not expecting that.

Me Talk Pretty One Day is my go-to book when I'm in between books and don't know what to read next.  For my money, it boasts the best story in print about trying to flush a poop that isn't yours.
