Me Talk Pretty One Day is my go-to book when I'm in between books and don't know what to read next.  For my money, it boasts the best story in print about trying to flush a poop that isn't yours.

Also, not beer-related, but booze-related so I'm tossing it into this thread: I'm officially in a raffle to win the opportunity to buy a bottle of 20-year Pappy Van Winkle.  Yep, it's come to this, entering a lottery and hoping for the chance to drop $200+ on a bottle of bourbon.

I'm with you, although in my food, I tend to shy away from pepper as a little goes a long way and it's easy to overdo.  So I was concerned that the peppercorn would be too much, but I have to say in both instances that I've tried it (the other being Cambridge Brewing Company's Sgt. Peppercorn), it was strong but not

Last night my wife and I split a bottle of Allagash's Fluxus. This is the second beer that I've had whose dominant ingredient is peppercorn and I'll be damned, I really enjoyed it. The peppercorn is a distinct flavor and it's surprisingly prominent, but it doesn't overwhelm to the point of ruining the beer.  Really

Viking Blod is an awesome mead.  I bought it last year to bring to a party purely for the name and loved it enough to go back and buy another bottle for keeping. I still haven't opened it yet, but I think it'll suit the potentially snowy winter quite well.

I listen to Jimmy Buffett's music the same way I listen to Christmas music: it's music that relies on a very specific context.  Where it's heard out of that context, it's sort of inoffensive and bland.  But in the right context, it's pretty spot on and captures a mood very well.  If I'm grilling at a beach house,

I love the score to this movie.  It's like if Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Sun O))) birthed music in the mud.

And his summary of that fun. song "Some Nights" as a Lion King rave was awesome.

Audioslave were a decent rock band but their music was less than the sum of their parts. The music got a bit repetitive, with most of their songs starting with a little guitar riff, a big guitar riff, a quirky solo, lather, rinse, repeat.  Sure, the same can be said for Rage, but Morello did this with Rage, there was

Never Named got it hooks in my a few years back and I think it may (currently) rank as my favorite track on the album.
