One of the reasons comic book dialogue needs some screen savy added (Avengers) to sound good. The dialogue in Sin City was often laughable.
All those icons she worked with, by the time Superman Returns came around no wonder she has this distant look in her eyes.

There Will Be Blood was mainly about whether Daniel Day Lewis would finally burst a blood vessel, but Magnolia was good (Hard Eight went for a mock profound that didn't quite work).

Depp was the only good thing about this movie. Nothing can rescue Burton's generally lifeless approach (and having that Seth Graham kid who writes the mash-ups write the script wasn't a good idea. He's a talentless hack.
