Despite having taken care of patients almost that petty, I still laughed.

And hey what about his game of Would You Rather in the shvitz? Even had the Aukerman-esque complications thrown in. Norm Hiscock (credited writer) has been listening to Comedy Death-Ray, or more probably Harris Wittels had a hand in it.
Also, Leslie and Chris would get the flu vaccine the day it debuts. Leslie would even have a annual ritual around it. I'm surprised Ann didn't have a lecture moment as all these gov't workers could have been vaccinated for cheap/free. Eh, as others have said, story convenience. Bravo to Norm Hiscock (who started as a…
Fake Tracy is Hannibal Burress, a great stand-up comic who is on the 30 Rock writing staff. Fey poached him from his previous Saturday Night Live writing gig.
Delta is fairly classy and unflappable. I can see that taking her close to the finals.
I've read about half of the book and enjoyed every piece more than the above example, so take that as you may. I'm finding that the book is very much in Patton's voice, but more so from his Spew blog (though more highly refined) than his standup. I'm a fan of both and I like this book so far.
I'm about halfway through it (it's not a long book and the page margins are, ahem, generous). Funny, thoughtful, silly, at times deeply autobiographical, I like it. For those on a budget though, I'd say library loan or wait for the paperback.
Looking fwd to this
Especially since it's all new (aside from one short piece). I'm going to use the Borders gift card I have since they're probably going out of business soon.
As I mentioned upthread, racers have confirmed in interviews that the airport strategies of earlier seasons are closed off to them, partially by the way the show is produced now but mostly because of differences in airline security. Also, lots of viewers complained that during the mid-period, the show spent too much…
By my count they teased 22 teams, more than they've ever had, so likely they showed more than actually raced.
I generally hate the recurring-drive-it-into-the-ground characters (another reason I love my Tivo), but I never get tired of Stefon. My favorite part was when Hader appeared surprised by the volume and force of his Stefon-as-Miss Piggy impression.
Waiting to get stitches (depending on the timing, which I honestly can't remember off-hand) means that you can't close with stitches due to infection risk, which means an open heal. "Toughing it out" is just poor health management as macho bullshit. I don't particularly like Jamie, but she did the right thing.
My only lottery fantasy is winning so that I can throw a fairly low-key party for my friends at which several fantastic hired bands play. Then give my friends and the bands control over percentages of the lottery haul to direct toward charities, foundations, etc. Of course I'd have to figure out a way to swear the…
I blame their department. Police officers without CPR training (where you would learn how to check for a pulse i.e. not putting your ear to the chest)? That's a poorly trained force. Still, I'll accept it in a crisis. Best scene of the ep since so much of the rest of it was quite bad. I want to like this show but it…
Or how about you respect the wishes of both the majority of the people here including the AV Club staff and go talk about book vs. show on some *other* forum. We don't want it here. All of us shouldn't have to avoid any thread on this show because you can't bear to keep your trap shut or go elsewhere.
Never thought I'd see someone quoting Horace Newcomb on AV Club. He was one of my professors in the Radio-TV-Film program at Univ. of Texas at Austin. At the time, the popular assessment of his teaching style was, "Horace Newcomb has the personality of a dead platypus." He also stated several times in class that…
I absolutely get that you don't care for Lanois' style, but Emmylou not sounding human? Her voice on Wrecking Ball convinced me that she was a true artist and not just a great singer. I definitely have my problems with Lanois, but WB is practically perfect.
I like Good One Robot, but her clown horn impression made me laugh, then cry on a city bus.
You know, when you see PFT in his normal appearance (dapper suit, coiffed hair, etc.) for stand-up, the moustache absolutely works.
Just to be a completist nerd, the copyright on "Happy Birthday to You" is for the words only. Patty & Mildred's (thank Yeardley Smith from Sports Night!) original song "Good Morning to All" is now in the public domain so anyone can make up new words for that tune. Though, even the copyright for the birthday lyrics is…
