I've been a student at UCB and am still involved in that community. Maybe, maybe 10% of students think it's their ticket to comedy stardom when starting Improv 101. Few others are that delusional, you're overselling it Uma Pemmaraju. If anything, there are lots of actors who take intro improv classes to round out

Separate issue Uma Pemmaraju, club vs. school. On the school side, the teachers are paid, the front and back office staff are paid, then there's rent, utilities, bandwidth, etc. The UCB is *not* flush with cash, and you're kinda talking out of your ass.

One of the Chippendales dudes is on-the-record gay. It's googlable, but better to live in doubt.

On a show like this, going to the hospital isn't a choice. For insurance reasons, they're not going to let a dancer continue without medical clearance. From the edit, it appeared her confusion continued or she was exhibiting other neuro symptoms that prompted the EMTs to recommend she get a full exam at a hospital.

On_2, on his season Alex was shown singing and playing piano as his hobby during one of the "personality" intros. It was just a little clip but he seemed good enough to be in the chorus of a Bway show.

BachelorPsychologist, happy recent birthday, it's mine as well. Also, weirdly, I've known Britt Daniel casually for almost 20 years and never knew we shared a birthday.

Saw this at SXSW '11 and couldn't stop talking about it to others. Brit Marling is captivating. Gorgeous yes, but also gives a powerful, unexpected performance. It should be noted that the film began as a semi-improvised web series which explains it's episodic and too-often abrupt structure. Still, recommended.

Do. I feel the same as you, making me wary, but saw the doc at SXSW spurred by recommendations. The film is charming and sure, it's a little hagiographic, but Clash is a talented guy who pays forward the mentoring that Love and Henson gave him. And he genuinely likes to make children and their parents happy. There's

Henson had already created and named Kermit before he met Love. Just a happy coincidence.

Sad news
Annette Charles, who played Cha Cha DiGregorio in Grease, died today. Never been a big fan of Grease, but that lady could move.

National Dance Day
Did anyone here participate? I'm in the DC area presently so I went down to the National Mall to check it out. Mary (and everyone else) sweated mightily as she went through her choreo, basically her video tutorial live. It was hot, but decently fun. The local dance acts later in the program weren't

The best thing about Melanie & Marko's piece
The mirror. Thanks to it, Nikki Parsons couldn't cram in multiple, horribly distracting camera arcs or else the mirror would have reflected the camera and crane. Yay mirror! Mirrors for all routines!

On Sonya
That chandelier piece was a little too cabaret/Cirque du Soleil. I agreed with Nigel that more dancing was warranted. But, I was happy to see Sonya trying something new and think this avenue bears exploration.

I know, the cat stuff, I know! But give it a try anyway, the cat was turned out to be my favorite thing in the film.

Saw it at SXSW and while, unlike RecoveringPitch, I was optimistic, it went way beyond my expectations. Narrated by a wounded cat? Sounds terrible, but damn if that cat's performance (really a voice-altered July) wasn't heartbreaking.

A show that gives and gives
Oh Childrens Hospital, you bring me such joy. Especially with spot-on "theater" lighting, Kulap dancing, and a Hitchhiker's Guide reference.

Absolutely agreed. Nikki Parsons has been getting worse, not better, over time and that is largely due to unnecessary and distracting camera moves, especially arcs. One of the nice things about seeing the touring show is that *you* get to choose where to focus. Having said that, I haven't seen enough great dances to
