I happen to be in New York this weekend so I think I might go see the play. Been hoping for some sort of mindfuck while I'm here, this looks like the ticket.
I noticed the mirror thing too and wondered if it was a candidate sign, but then Kate did it too and she's supposedly crossed off the list.
Also, in the alternate world, when Sun went to answer the hotel door she looked in the mirror and did that somethings-not-quite-right-here thing that several other characters (Kate, Jack, Sawyer I think) have done when they saw their reflection. Too much of this for not to lead up to something as the worlds merge or…
Yeah I definitely was reminded of Chase's "penchant" for insulting people in real life and thinking it's *hilarious*. In the context of the ep though, it just made him look like more of an ass.
Urban Cowboy is set in Pasadena just outside Houston. Not a classic though.
Hey, I just used "heavens to murgatroid" the other day in an AV Club comment. Still a great phrase, though better when spoken with the Snagglepuss voice.
Looking at the credits last night, I see Hannibal Buress is still writing for the show. He's a very funny standup comic with a comic sensibility that does not appear on SNL (which is an old story for this show). Don't blame the writers, I'm absolutely positive that they write funny material that is shunted to the side…
On the cue card thing, hasn't Lorne Michaels publicly stated that they discourage hosts from memorizing lines as sketches are frequently re-written up to the broadcast? I blame Michaels continuing to demand the writing-schedule-as-determined-by-coke methods the show used when it was new (i.e. everyone stays up all…
I thought Rothbart's story would be online somewhere, but I can't seem to find it. It's not hard to guess the ending of the story about halfway through it, though I can see how a filmed version could keep it a little more mysterious.
I remember him always being up front about it way back. That OUT article makes it plain he doesn't agree that gay actors have to stay closeted to get work. Good for him.
SPOILERS again
In terms of Lane, wasn't she working her way through the Trouser Press Guide or somesuch? Explains her rapidly evolving taste, which Rory then cherry-picked from. Yeah OK, somewhat unrealistic, but it delights me all the same to watch the eps and get a "hey I like that too!" reference.
I'm fond of Flirting with Disaster as a modern, successful screwball comedy. A little slower perhaps, but everything that happens at his birth parent's house is spot-on.
Natty, MF are doing a phenomenal version of Falling in Love with the Wolfboy on their current tour with Shirley singing. I've seen them many times and this song blew me away.
C'mon, that table scene where they're just looking at each other with no dialogue? Hilarious, and absolutely built on the character relationships they've established over time. That's why I love this show.
Yes, it made no sense that a timer couldn't be devised. Heck, they could have imprinted a dumbshow with Topher (sad for them, but otherwise they would have stayed a dumbshow) and had "him" do it. I like the suicide idea (though, why does this pulse kill him and people 20 stories down are fine?), but then I wonder…
As I recall, the general feeling on this board was that the gas wasn't poison but anesthetic, Whiskey would kill the butchers and go on being a sign post of sorts for other actuals who might discover the Dollhouse as she had possibly several times before.
About five 10 minutes in and well-aware that this is Whedon I suddenly realized, "Someone's gonna die, someone's gonna get maimed."Glad it played out differently than I expected, though the Meg lesbian thing was shoe-horned in awkwardly.
I saw a recut Lollipop Girls (retitled M3D) at an art house theater in 1992. The promotion positioned it as a silly novelty, not so much erotic. The 3D wasn't planned well and the audience frequently had feet or elbows in their face rather than boobs or dicks. After laughing along for much of it with a friend, and…
