I particularly don't like the new stage when they shoot the dancers with the display screen filling up the background. It distracts from the dancers and the image quality looks grainy. And it's just one more thing that can clash in the dancer/choreographer/costumer/director mix.

Retro I find your comment fascinating because it's a such a different, but completely reasonable, reaction to the situation. Staunch characters dissolving into tears always get me and I was sympathetic to Don/Dick (while at the same time marveling at Jon Hamm's abilities). Of course I knew these things were mostly of

The trouble I had with the tap routine was the audio. The music was too loud and the tapping echoed weirdly. I love Bianca and hope she can shine as well in other styles. Really, I assume they all can as I can't imagine Nygel would let in *three* tappers who were mediocre at other styles.

Well for one thing he was an avowed agnostic/atheist, so the saint thing kind of goes out the window. But seriously, I can't get behind people on pedestals. Sure, I get the whole shining example for us all - and Tillman was an extraordinary person - but it also contributes to the frustrating belief in almost

I told myself not to read any reviews of the live show so I would be surprised, but I couldn't resist as I respect your opinion Bourne. So happy that several of my favorite routines are included and largely worked well. Hopefully the dancers will all have recovered from their illnesses when I see them next week.

About 3/4 of the way through reading this review, it struck me that beyond the subject matter (of course I'll see this) the writing was incredibly engaging. More words please, my brain is happy! Scrolled up, ah Noel, of course. I know others here are quite vehement in their dislike of Noel, but I like that so much

Where are the regulars?
I was expecting to read a slew of feedback from last season's dedicated commentors just now, I hope they come out of the woodwork when the competition starts.

I'm not so sure that Susan's brother will be relevant later on if only because this season is rife with guest appearances that seem like they'll be part of a multi-ep arc, but then go away after one ep.

Well this is so late that no one will probably read it, but "Wake Up" is not in the movie (which is common for trailer music) so that emotional punch ain't there.

Mia Michaels quit
She won't be choreographing or judging this season.

Matt M's correct. If you like the pilot, you'll love the show. If you hate it, forget it. If you are meh, then maybe give it a few more eps? I found the show in the first summer repeats, cursed myself for not watching from the beginning despite my Lauren Graham crush, and went round begging my female friends to try it

The Watcher article that Tobias linked to has been updated with a note that Fox told The Hollywood Reporter that they plan to air all 13 eps ordered. Of course the plan could change.

Victor as wriggling sexpot was more funny than hot, let me add one more hurrah for Enver's range and skill. Is Fox/Dushku/Whedon not confident that this show can bring in female viewers? I'm assuming the other Whedonverse gays are already on board. Cause a few Victor R assignments (and not with Adele) couldn't hurt.

The best part was Tom losing it and putting his head down. Clearly he doesn't care for Toby, yet that ridiculous, arbitrary armpit metaphor killed him.

Oh AV Club, where geek references collide. Harbinger's was a Warriors ref right?

Breathlessly, I like your picks. I especially want to see Ellenor perform a Sonya routine.

Now now, let him come to terms with…whatever (not as convinced as you, but I can see it) at his own pace. Unless he's a politician fucking over against his own people, then drag him out of the closet/bathroom stall/Argentinian cave and into the public spotlight.

I don't think the ad was so much homoerotic, it was "Hey city-dwelling man lacking confidence in your masculinity, smoke Lucky Strikes and you'll be as macho as this bearded fisherman stud." Straight guys don't watch straight porn cause they maybe secretly want to suck the guy's big dick (or maybe they do, what do I

The eyes Peggy gave Don as she closed the conference room door said, "That man is cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs." I seriously considered whether he might be approaching Howard Hughes-level wackadoodle. Turned out not to be the case so much but man they laid it on thick with the disappointed father shtick no? When it first

At the 40 min mark of the ep, I folded my arms and stated out loud, "Alright Weiner, you have 20 min to keep Sal on the show." At the 58 min mark, "Bastard!" I too am holding out hope that he joins the (likely?) rival team that seems to be building. Honestly, I can even see Don heading out the door too after a blowup
