Zoo musical, ha! I loved Zoo way more than a doc about horsefucking should merit. A triumph of form and style.

Jerusalem, this is how it's worked for decades now. Certain movies, bands, etc. enter The Canon thanks to aggressive promotion by cultural critics (literature professors, institutions such as AFI publishing Best film lists, endless best songs about whatever lists) and promulgation by pop culture acolytes. I love…

Apt Pupil started off great, but as usual King doesn't know how to end stories, so lieu of an actual ending there's an explosion. The movie's ending was waaaay better.
Did anyone else think Harry's primer on income tax rates was a sly commentary on the conservative uproar over moving the top tax rate back up to (I think) 35% when it's been quite higher than that through every post-Depression Republican president's term including six of Reagan's eight years?
Also, big-nosed Italian bellboy with the bedroom eyes? Hotchi-motchi!
Merritt wanted Neil Tennant to sing on the second 6ths album (Tom Waits too), but it never happened.
A friend and I used to creep the fuck out of each other by waiting for inappropriate times to start whimpering "Ellie".
I disagree with the worst and annoying eval, but of course they were manufacturing drama. Agree there was some creative editing or outright shenanigans. I too was amazed that Chiarello got only one star less from each judge after their unimpressed-to-hostile critique, and that Hubert was far more popular with the…
I saw that to and immediately thought, "I know what *I'm* going!" Clearly a compromise between "know where they're going" and "Know what they're doing", it's quite adorable really.
Though I love these guys, I've been on the fence about the show. Good, but nothing I'd miss if it didn't come back. This ep completely won me over. I hoped that Heisler would see it for what it was, far and away the best ep of the show and laugh out loud funny, and he did. So yay for that.
I like Double Indemnity, but consider it just a great introduction to film noir rather than the pinnacle that Mike holds it up as. When I saw it after Gilda, Laura, and The Big Sleep, it felt lightweight and *too* obvious.
There were at least a couple Jean Marc routines, though I'm not recalling what they were. One of the quick steps right?
I've had a Tivo for almost ten years so the idea of picking which of two shows I'm going to watch is almost unfathomable to me now. Having said that, 30 Rock and Office eps are on Hulu and come out on DVD. SYTYCD isn't and won't.
Jewel Thieves is #1 for me. For contemporary, it's between Travis heart necklace, addiction, and Sonya's Kayla/Kupono routine (which I think a lot of people forgot about when they saw addiction the next week). For ballroom, Brandon/Janette's tango. Hip-hop would be zombie, then 7 Nation Army.
And ugh the lighting and camera work was awful. Almost every reprised dance was badly lit and poorly directed. Maybe it was the unfamiliarity with the space, but the shot choices and just terrible framing made me appreciate the work that was done during the rest of the season. Way too many shots where dancers arms and…
Thirds on that. Thieves was my favorite routine of the season. If that doesn't make it to the touring show, I'm going to be pissed. Crash Test Dummies was great too, for the movement and risky music choice.
The Jeanine and Philip in love was a NapTab routine, the only successful one from them (aside from the 7 Nation Army group piece) this year IMO.
Didn't know that. Perhaps it was psychological then that she looked heavy and somewhat ungainly. Yeah she was better than Evan, but that routine and pairing didn't work for me. Evan just doesn't have chemistry with his partners (including Brandon), poor dear.
Why all the Zooey hatin'? Clearly the producers thought up this challenge, then roped in a name to cushion the blow. Blame them if anyone. I loved that they were so restricted because boxes like that can inspire great creativity. Anybody seen The Five Obstructions?
