Cowboy boots?!
Let's put the most graceful dancer in heavy footwear she's unfamiliar with so that clomping around is inevitable. Great idea.

As soon as the Reich music started I thought, "That's why the count is difficult." Excellent idea for dance music though. Unfortunately, the uncooperative skirts really detracted from the performance.

Because failures are interesting to think about, ergo Rabin's My Year of Flops. Also, Tiffany's "Could Have Been So Beautiful".

The winds definitely out of her sails. I thought she might break into happy tears when she was flabbergasted by Brandon's self-described lack of confidence. If this is how she was the first few seasons, I'm doubly peeved at myself for dismissing the show as a crappy AI clone.

Excellent evaluation MM, with you 100%. What's up with the knee-jerk, flailing attempts at insult ("Degeneracy?" "Life skills are zippo?" Really?) flipouts from commenters this week? We've been taking Evan (and Tyce above) down a peg for weeks now. Eh.

I'm with Murgatroid, this was a sleepy night aside from the disco and Brandon's solo. Rather lackluster at this point in the competition. I'm still heartbroken over Janette. How brilliant would she have been at that samba (though, I still voted for Jeanine)?

When I was still in school and my fellow students were bored one day in lab, we took turns trying to get our pulse ox as low as we could via super shallow breathing (works better than simple breath holding as the urge is more about exhaling CO2 than taking in O2). The "champion" actually greyed out and slumped in her

Having now seen Ramalama, I can say definitely that Wade Robson is a cultural imperialist and a very bad man. Last week's Dark Asian Stereotype Extravaganza was bad enough, but now he's appropriating Victorian zombie culture? And this time there's no "my girlfriend/co-choreographer is a Victorian zombie" excuse.

Thanks Maid Marian. Any recommendations on routines of her's I might watch on YouTube or other sites?

I agree with Koski with the bashing, though clearly the emotion from the judges was genuine. When they cut to the shot of the whole table after Ellen's comments, Nigel had turned his back and was probably sobbing. That's what killed me, the effect the dance had on the people in the studio (judges, audience, Cat).

Every week I compile my favorite (or at least interesting) dances and recently showed them to my sister. As I don't include the lead-up or critique, just the dance itself, her perspective is fascinating to me. I can't wait to show her cancerdance without the context to see what she thinks.

Here, here. Battlestar Galactica, The Big Bang Theory, 24, Bones, the collected works of Joss Whedon? By my read that two out of five that regular readers would care about and BSG is over. I get the reason behind camping out, but this is the best conglomeration of panels?

I'll second you. I had left superhero-ish comics behind for years until I saw some Hellboy art and flipped for it, "Who's this guy and how come nobody did this before?!?"

It's not about boosting his levels, quiet passages will suddenly give way to explosive when he makes his point. He just needs coaching to modulate across the board. I was quite surprised by this tendency of his as with his broadcast experience, I would have thought he'd know better. I find Tasha has the best "radio"

Good solo, but man his footwork sucked in that waltz. I'm not good at picking up all the details when I first see the routines so I tend to rewatch them after the judges comments. Mary was right on.

Yes, yes Joey is gorgeous and her legs go aaaaall the way down to the floor.

Kayla will indeed have a great career (very mold-able). Seems to do much better with the dark pieces than the happy-go-lucky stuff. Her and Brandi need to trade a bit of their personas.

What about a Brandon/Ade team-up? Apparently they've done same-sex pairs before and I can see an unbelievably athletic and powerful routine from them. Same with a Janette/Jeanine pairing.

Janette, then Brandon for me too. Wouldn't have picked them at the beginning of the season, but after that disco routine I was hooked. The Wade thieves routine had me gaping in joy. So much fun I can see myself trying to get close up tickets for the tour just to see them do it live.
