Dear departed Alice Ghostley was indeed on the first season, and was far and away the best thing about Designing Women.

My Tivo proves to be a hero again as my Season Pass was still in effect and was set to record the ep a week ago. I thought about posting this fact under the last PD ep review, but then how many people were going to read the last comment on a review from December?
Finish it out Genevieve?
I understand not reviewing the eps when they were posted online, but now that ABC is burning them off on Saturday nights, we need your opinion. Use your words Genevieve!
Volumes on my shelf (meaning I liked them enough to own them, loan out, reread):
Marjane Satrapi - Persepholis
Craig Thompson - Goodbye Chunky Rice
Doug TenNaple - Creature Tech
Howard Cruse - Stuck Rubber Baby
Alison Bechdel - Fun Home
Gene Yang - American Born Chinese
Eric Drooker - Flood!
Jason - anything really, but Why…
Thanks to PrayJello for the full phrase, but Steve Martin didn't say it, nor did Elvis Costello or Bob Dylan or any of the other people that come up during a web search. So far, no one's managed to definitely track down the originator of that phrase.
Argh
Having worked in a psych hospital, the trailer left me peeved and disheartened. *Another* medical show featuring a cliche nonconformist with crazy methods which monocle-smashingly work, damnit! Groan. Let me guess, here's a doctor who cares. He'll spend hours with patients if that's what it takes! Investigate…
I'm with Kelberon on this one, if you're getting these for kids, peruse them first as Herge is flagrantly racist on a regular basis. Not saying kids shouldn't read them, there's just going to have to be context provided and good discussion during reading. Depending on their age, maybe a good lead-in to the terribly…
Carvey detracts
All the best skits were mostly or entirely Carvey-free. He was the weakest element of the show. Aside from the Skinheads from Maine sketches, I can't remember anything he did that was laugh out loud funny. Worth a watch, but not to own.
Och. They were on the early list to play SXSW but then disappeared from later lists. Would have loved to see them live. I bought Way of the Vaselines solely on the strength of Nirvana's imprimatur and covers. Was not disappointed. Used to play the hell out of "Think You're a Man" on the college radio station.
Going To Kill You, Sean was (rather cleverly) issuing a callback to last week's buzzkill, not mocking autism.
Dang. I should have gone to seen them at SXSW. They probably performed this.
LexDev, I'm so with you about Paul. It was through waking up to his BS (in a theology class, thanks Jesuit education!) that I resolutely gave up being Catholic/Christian.
It is quite charming and definitely captures the spirit of the original show. I was told that a 2nd printing was being run due to the enormous demand.
Ha! Noel's right on. FMC is good if only because they air Bigger Than Life, which isn't available on DVD. Great movie.
In a moment of boredom during SXSW, my small group took turns guessed how many bands had 'black' as the first word of their name (excluding 'the' obviously). Nobody got it right. It was 18.
What's blown my mind is finding out that Nathan looks like Bob Mould (present edition) or Shel Silverstein when I had pictured him looking like Sir Simon Milligan except bald with a neat Van Dyke beard.
Yeah what's up with Roberts? He was the foxy one back in the Upright Citizen's Brigade (the TV show) days. Seeing him on Reno 911 just makes me kinda sad.
For a better view of Sullivan's range and timing, see the eps of Scrubs she guested on. Good stuff.
Do see it. It's variously funny, heartbreaking, and hopeful. I don't care for metal music at all, but I love these guys after waching this doc.
I felt like this was Love's Labor Lite as well. As soon as the blood started spilling I shouted "Pitocin! Start fundal massaging!" Got way too into the medical care aspect.
