This is an odd Dischord discussion without putting the State of The Union comp on the must-have list. Also, Ignition was an integral band.

This is a fantastic album. It should get credit for NOT sounding like a bland, slick, overly compressed pop album. There is so much good music here I think you need some time with it. It is easily an A.

    This is…
rather a devisive album. Some absolutely love it, others hate it. I can't stop listening to the few songs I have from it. I can't wait to get my hands on this.

I never really got into his films…
But this is one of the best AV Club interviews. He's a pretty interesting guy.

    Gram Parsons
Gram did some great stuff. Although I don't think he needed more "cosmic" sensiblities in his music I definately think he got better over time. I love ALL his stuff but his two solo albums were his best. He definitely would have kept getting better.

    Baker Street
is the worst piece of music ever recorded. Whenever I hear that song I have to listen to at least one GG Allin album to unclog that smoove jazzish sound.

    Best Album?
For some reason whenever people talk about the Replacements a best album argument ensues, more so than any other band I can think of. Sure Tim might be the best, but most influential? That would be Don't Tell A Soul. It really started the alt-country genre. Yeah Lucinda, Steve Earle, the Blaster, and Meat

    Bonds songs

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll have to go to Amazon to see if they have it. Or should I go to the independently owned bookstore to see if they have it?

Sure Legs put together the oral history but he did a cool job. Your rant Lobsters was funny, I'm just sayin he did some pretty cool.
I never read England's Dreaming, but Rip It Up and Start Again is a pretty good read. More about post punk than punk but very enjoyable.

Lobsters I agree to an extent. Have you picked up Please Kill Me? It is actually a pretty great read.

    Meh
    Meh

    Seconds
I'm suprised you didn't mention Seconds by Frankenheimmer. Aronovsky took the camerawork from the beginning of that movie and made a full film of it.

I LOVE that album. Old World is such a bizarre sentiment but it is such a great song. Good good stuff.

She is a ctually a pretty good singer - In a Didio kind of way.

    Sexually Damaged Girls
    Are the best lays.

    Is that the one
Is that the one where he denounces Bush played by Farrell?

    Oh yeah
Glad to see given a "B"
    I have a new hope.

    Looking forward
I was really looking forward to this one until all the critcs started to slam it. I have a feeling though that even Wong Kar Wai not at his best is miles better than most. Hope this comes to my town soon.

I was thinking about that one too. Miles Davis and of course Glenn Frey and Phil Collins had some notable appearances.
