I gotta say, I prefer the political correctness of the '90s to much of our current state.

See, I've never at all felt that he was "light, goofy and surface level" - or, rather, I felt the goofiness was *at* the surface level, as an intentional act, to obscure depths of darkness and lingering guilt. That just seemed to be the obvious authorial intent.

Considering this the next day: I don't agree. Not because I can't see it (especially in the case of Bosko), but because, sadly, I can't see such characters, if they were meant that way, not being degradedly *characterized*, too.
