That's a good pick! And Lisa Gerrard went on to contribute to the Gladiator soundtrack, so that's kind of a halfway situation.

also Clogs would be an easy "get" since they share a hobbit with the National

More artists I'd like to see on the GoT soundtrack:

Hey, this is great writing; it nails the pace of the show, keyed up and visceral, never stooping to the melodramatic phrasing or big-picture pontification that can drag down a lot of these classic write-ups.

Worth noting that Morning Glory was shockingly bad. I mean: it's Harrison Ford, in a comedy, as a News Man, reluctantly teamed up with a perky young woman, and the thing still manages to surprise you with the depths of its insufferableness. I wish "insufferability" was a word, but we have to play the hand that we're

Maybe they're just not that likable.

We're inside the rabbit glass, people.

In a twist of fate, Destroyer is actually my all-time favorite musician. I don't think he'd do it, though. I think he'd yell to his agent: "that's too fucking char-ming, Alice!" and throw a short glass of whiskey at the wall.

Bands I think would be good, but don't have specific songs in mind for:

Popular bands who would do a decent cover of this include:

This is fantastic. I've always appreciated how much thought this show puts into the most minimal amount of narrative-oriented background music, and I think a feature like this could capitalize on that effort to bring in a lot of new fans. Talk about the long con!

I keep trying to link to a blog post the Wrens wrote today, but my comment disappears instantly. I think Disqus is set up to destroy any comment with "year-end" in a hyperlink; kinda shady.

"The majestic enormity of an angel getting sucked through a warp engine." Good line.

Anyway, I'm Dennis.

Yikes.

Your avatar looks just like this guy that I know.

Internet! What's the deal with this band? Do they have a legacy of some kind? Are there any links I can click on? Never mind! All that matters is the music. What do you call it when you put a bunch of songs together and release them as one thing? Do they have any of those? If so, are they red? Hello? Internet? It's

They should cast Jeffrey Dean Morgan as….someone……! A hero, of some kind. Or a villain. He can have a really confusing medium-shot scene of dialogue with Tony Stark, who will be in civilian clothes. They can save it for the post-credits thing if they have to. I'm not going to be picky about this

Oh man. Definitely have vivid teenage memories of the Entrapment trailer, which was played endlessly. Connery says something like "I hear you play both shhhiiiiiiides" — a full year before the game-changing "you the man now, dogg" and still a few years before he went out on top with the League of etc.

I gotcha. They're tough losses, and I'm sure a few execs look back and think: crap. We could actually make that work, now.
