There's a German film called "Stalingrad" that I'd add to the list of best war films of the last 20 years.

Bergerud's "Touched With Fire" is a similarly exhaustive companion piece on the ground war in the same theater.

Iwo Jima is part of Tokyo Prefecture, so I doubt that the Japanese occupation was any more brutal than the US occupation of Washington DC.

I want 10 episodes just on the battle of Kursk.

I'll second "Overlord". Its story of the Allies bumbling around Normandy and succeeding more or less in spite of themselves is a compelling read.

The Rick Schroder movie was called "The Lost Battalion", and it wasn't half bad.

I posted a whole mess of books about the PTO in the comments of the last episode of "The Pacific".

They needed the fictional concentration camp liberation in order to spell out in large capital letters "Why We Fight", just in case you didn't already know the Nazis were evil.

That one's been sitting in the 'saved' section of my Netflix queue forever.

I think it's pretty great. I would gladly plunk myself down on the couch for the duration of the rumored 5+ hour cut.

As great as it is, "Paths of Glory" is more courtroom drama than WWI film though.

My only problem with BoB is, as Leonard alludes to, that the core Easy Co. men might as well be wearing halos.

I have no idea what they're screaming about in most of the music I listen to. I assume it's Satan.

"Train Kept a-Rollin" was the first song Page, Plant, JPJ and Bonham ever played together.

I misread it as "tatu-a-tatu", which is also appropriate I guess. Also, do they go ASS-TO-ASS?

Call of Duty is a shooter, not a wargame.

Hexes!? ZOMFG!
Civilization V is using hexes!? You mean like every single fucking wargame ever? What a risky move!
