I've always assumed that Cars is a sequel to Maximum Overdrive.

I actually joined a movie rating site just to get recommendations (criticker.com). It's actually pretty good about it, most of the time it's pretty accurate about what I'm going to like, though there are some outliers, so I've been basing a lot of my viewing on that. I think I might watch more foreign movies than domestic. Part of this is due to my current obsession with kaiju, even if I'm smack in the middle of the era where kaiju turned into awful kids movies at the moment, though it's a generally consistent theme.
