@avclub-eaa88660d97aa2a15400335bcf9d93ac:disqus Agreed. He seems to be the only translator who read and actually understood "The Monsters and the Critics"— or at least the only one with enough poetry chops to approach translating Beowulf the way Tolkien wanted people to approach reading it.

Reading his translation (and especially his preface to it) made me realize just how hard it is to do a good translation that FEELS right instead of one where the words just mean the right things.

Totally agree about The Americans finale. That Games Without Frontiers sequence gave me chills.

I also enjoy that the "male antihero" archetype on this show is played by freaking Felicity.

I'll allow that there are some poor souls who legitimately dislike even fresh, high-quality guac (which is really, really easy to make if you know how to pick avocados)— the issue usually seems to be textural.
