I should've mentioned this in my post - I heard that on local sports radio this week. I'm wondering if he was born in Philly but lived in the suburbs? I hear he was from Jenkintown which isn't "Philly" any more than living in say Northern NJ is NYC.

Aerosmith is freaking awesome!!!! If you're 12 years old and the year is 1986.

What do you think the chances are that my 13-year-old stepdaughter would like to see Skyfall with her dorky middle-aged stepdad? Pretty good right??? Right???/?

The box art that frightened me as a kid in the VHS store was almost uniformly the Italian horror / gore movies of the late 70s and early 80s. The boxes were actually slightly bigger than typical US films, which gave the impression of something sort of exotic and theoretically less subject to censorship. And a lot of

I don't like Eli Roth's work much but he has excellent taste in horror films. I'd have probably gone with The Beyond from Fulci instead of Zombie. But Torso is an absolutely terrific gaillo film and highly underrated — it has a few moments (one in a swamp and another involving a key) of Hitchcock level suspense. The

The original / first Evil Dead movie is among my single favorite movies of any genre, ever. The film is like a bad acid trip and it delivers everything I'd want out of a horror flick. I also think it's a terrific example of creative filmmaking on a shoestring budget.

1. Yes they're worth checking out. They're sort of like Sonic Youth had a baby with the Kronos Quartet. If that description sounds at all interested I'd say these guys may be right up your alley.

Not much to say about this movie except that it's totally average and mediocre, which means it's among the single best film adaptations of a King story.

I haven't seen this one in a while, but from what I remember it was just sort of dull and mediocre. I also remember this one being incredibly tame and probably could've pulled off a PG rating without cutting much material. I'm a fan of Tobe Hooper but this one is far from essential viewing and not even a notable
