Funny, "Wish You Were Here" was the song that made me go "what the hell happened to this band?" I think they were going for laid back but it just felt lazy.

Times are changin'

Exactly. That's why I completely disagree with the pacing point above. We feel his pain, and all for $140.

"It turns out that Michael’s sense of humor is dictated by some standards: 'Five hundred boxes have gone out with the image of a beloved cartoon duck performing unspeakable acts upon a certain cartoon mouse that a lot of people like. I’ve never been a fan.'"
Bit of Fridge Brilliance here, and a testament to why I love

I've only really listened to a few of these (Pianos… Balance and Composure, Cloud Nothings) but I'll definitely check out more. Some were on my to-do list and just hadn't gotten there so thanks for the input. The whole post-rock aspect of Prawn is what sucked me in to start with and I'm not tired of it yet.

+1 for Cloud Nothings.

And everything that followed was worse than awful.

Came here to say one of those things - it's great to see Prawn get a mention somewhere. I didn't know there was a post-rock/emo revival afoot but I thought this album was fantastic and even the 2 song Settled ep they released a week or so back (songs that were supposed to be on the album proper) only added to my love

The upvote is for "fuck Passenger." That song is unavoidable and just absolutely awful.

I don't know but Heal is definitely one of my favorite things I've heard this year.

Did you know that the "You" in that song is God? Just saying, it colored my thoughts on the lyrics greatly when I learned that.

I hate to break it to you, but sax is very much alive and well. Semi recent shows I've seen from M83 and My Morning Jacket come to mind where the biggest cheers of the night came when a sax player walked on stage for one part of one song. People still go crazy over sax, and I still don't get it.

As one of those 15 then year olds, I really was only into the drums. It was those live recordings of Ants that got me into them and then it was always very much a love/hate relationship for me from there.

He wants her to teach him- "how do I give?" he'll ask.

That explanation was in line with "everyone's cells have a high concentration of midi-chlorians."

Yeah, I think bottle episode means more that everyone is confined to a primarily singular space. A Friends episode always comes to mind - the one where no one's ready is spot in terms of a pure bottle episode. The characters "leave" the single set, so there's no contrivance of "we're trapped" but all we ever see is

There are some fantastic songs, like Cath, but the single I Will Possess Your Heart is just a plain bad song imo. Not just because it's so senselessly long, but the stalker lyrics and trite repetition of "you've gotta spend some time, love" just irritate me.

There was a surprisingly fantastic pitchfork write up on Transatlanticism when it was reissued that hit on this - like it's an album that's almost impossible to not put in context of where you were in your life when it came out and you made up your mind how you felt about it.

I'm pretty sure they're just watching their home burn from a safe distance. Gotta be some closure and something romantic in that. I really, really don't think they're saying "oh here comes the fire,we're just gonna let it burn us, and your daughter, alive because our house is gone"

I agree 100% - this interpretation never crossed my mind. Probably because I've been in a hospital waiting room, bracing for bad news. But I've never been in the hospital (thankfully) with folks waiting on me.
