@disqus_okgItcD0yy:disqus I remember at one point Darryl saying to Michael "Bob Vance is buying the warehouse and keeping us all on."  But then they all kept shipping paper so I"m thinking it's more like Toby is just an HR rep.

Okay, just have to say bravo on "penis ex machina".  Well done.

Well, that's how Dwight hires.  That made sense in that regard.  Additionally so if you figure this might be a holdover from the days when "The Farm" might still be made to show us Dwight has a ton of friends - enough to carry a whole show!  Really though, I liked seeing all those faces again.

I think the most pathetic thing is if Brian is indeed pining for Pam.  The implications to me were that Brian has a thing for Pam, she's aware, but they're both involved ("say hi to Alyssa", was it?).

I think to say he'll just disappear is a little off.  More likely he'd go to anger management.  Then date and propose to Val (who cheats on him with Darryl).  Then he'll duel with Darryl.  Then start running the warehouse.  Then he'll get a boat and disappear.

@avclub-153214f264737adddf9b6683799258e2:disqus I definitely get that was what they're going for, and the argument was possibly the most realistically tense in the show's history.  However I felt how serious that fight was without them jumping on camera so I feel the need to question the motive behind them getting

I didn't know that.  Modern Family was clearly laid out more like a documentary in the pilot (and to a lesser extent the rest of season 1) than later seasons or now.  My guess is they realized it is more restrictive to stick with that format and opted against it but who knows.  Either way it seems like a conscious

Fine to disagree, but Pam says "Don't you have enough footage, it's just a paper company" they reply "we're more following you guys to see how you turn out" to which Pam replies something like "with two kids nothing interesting is gonna happen to us for a long time" - Pam was assuming the cameraman was talking about

Oh man I should check those out, but if that's the case I don't think I like it.  I LOVED the British version and didn't warm to the US version until the start of season 3, now I think the US version as a whole is so incredibly better.  But one of the things I railed on the US version for at first was copying so

The thing is Jim and Pam have issues with distance as we saw with her in art school.  She wasn't trying to leave Jim, but her absence affected him greatly.  She so didn't want to give up on them she gave up and moved back.  But the stakes weren't as high as they are here, married with two children and finally a chance

Plus, they probably hate Andy as much as everyone else so they wanted to see him suffer.

Toby is just creepy, like when he touched Pam's leg in front of Jim before fleeing and jumping over the office fence.
