That Alexandra Pelosi doc was really excellent, though. Worked on several levels: showed what a conflicted guy he is, humanizing him a great deal. Also provided quality schadenfreude through watching him fail at a series of increasingly humiliating jobs. Something for everyone!

M-O-O-N, that spells 'goodbye occasional paycheck.'

Kind of off topic, but…
…this—"the Batman I love doesn't necessarily come from any single issue of Batman or any single media portrayal. It's a character I more or less developed in my mind based on the appealing aspects of all the media portrayals I've ever seen"—makes me curious about your take on the 'it's all

Scott was saying the "mostly harmless" categorization of the Earth was his masterstroke, not the shitty, bitter book.

Wrong Okkervil River song
I'd have gone with "Plus Ones," which references 9 different songs.

TheLordFlasheart: Alias was the first show that I was a die-hard fan of, but felt compelled to jettison. Dropped it mid-season 4 and never looked back. That skill came in handy again in the home stretch of Galactica (fuck you, Final Five).

Alias
The major problem with Alias was never the Rambaldi stuff, at least in theory (the magic liquid that prompted you to engage in automatic writing when injected into your veins excepted). The show lost me with its utter disregard for character motivation and histories. I'm supposed to believe that Dixon would

"Is this a musical table?"

*slap* "WOMAN, you WILL bear me a marching band!"
"I'm trying!"
"Bah! All you give me are DRUMMERS!"

You wrote: "When I think 'alternate history,' I think of one of those if-Hitler-won-the-war dealies, a divergence from the way things actually went rooted in some set of contingencies going otherwise than what they did. Maybe my use of the term is too limited…"

Shut that refrigerator door…
I'm not paying to cool the out-of-doors!

According to Arcade Fire's Facebook page…
…Spoon is opening the Atlanta show as well.

The 'Conspiracy' Bugs
Is it just me, or did the creatures that Nero uses to control Pike in the Abrams "Star Trek" look almost exactly like the insect creatures in "Conspiracy"? It seemed too close to be unintentional.

Yeah, Arkham's up there with Sebastian O and the FF mini he did with Jae Lee in my "Worst of Morrison" list.

Wait, somebody's ragging on Quitely's (awesome) NEWXMEN art, but no mention of the tossed-off Igor Kordey issues?

Well, DC won that lawsuit.* The rumor is that after the judge ruled in their favor, DC made an agreement with the Atlas estate that promised not to reprint the comic if Atlas would agree not to appeal the verdict.

Flex Mentallo
…is still the definitive Morrison comic. Equal parts "Invisibles"-style metafiction mindfuck and Morrison's love of Silver Ager superheroics. And glorious Frank Quitely art to boot. It's a crime that DC refuses to bring it back into print.

I can write you a play! All you need is a silly old king's hat, and some fancy sissy clothes out of your sister's drawers, and you get up on the stage, and you go nuts!

God help me, I thought the same thing.
