Yes and yes. Both of these comments are 100% correct. I almost can't believe this is even real.

Although now that I think about Tower of Babel was by Mark Waid, immediately following Morrison's run. Oops.

They didn't really mess with the Lantern continuity too much either, since
they were the hub of Geoff Johns' Blackest Night/Brightest Day/Captain Planet crap.

It seems hard for people to jump in on the Morrison stuff midway through. Tons of people complained about RIP being incomprehensible without having read the earlier stuff, and Return of Bruce Wayne seems like it would be the same way. I love both of those stories, but out of context I think the impact is dulled.

Joker: Ed Brubaker's The Man Who Laughs
Catwoman: Brubaker/Cooke stuff
Two-Face: Eye of the Beholder from Batman Annual 14
Scarecrow: maybe Fear of Faith from No Man's Land

Yeah, those books are great. Sadly, Year Two is pretty crappy and nonsensical.

Fortunately both Batman:TDK and Detective are getting actual writers very shortly. Detective will be by John Layman who writes the awesome Chew and TDK gets some guy who writes crime novels. I'll agree that up until now they've been entirely skippable. Batman Inc and Batman and Robin have been pretty great, though,…

Tons of people are harping on the Long Halloween and its sequel in this comment section but to me they just seemed like pastiche to me - remember Loeb did Red Hulk pretty much directly afterwards. It's a basic whodunnit with every villain crammed in whether they have any relevance to the plot or not. Of course the…

Absolutely. That might be the one book I miss most from just before the reboot.
