It's the grunge blowback. That was the era of taking music seriously and with a veneer of sarcasm until post-grunge took it to a nearly parodic level. Then dance music (generic rap, contemporary R&B, etc) and melismatic, hyper-emotional R&B came and took things back to the lowest common denominator.

You don't have to dislike Kim Deal to dislike The Breeders. Shit, that's like supporting Tim Machine simply because Bowie was in it, and we all know that's nonsense.

The Breeders are a very hit/miss + love/hate band. Pod is one of the few albums my dad has ever hated, and I never thought of Last Splash as anything much. "Cannonball" is a fantastic song though, and the album's worth the 5 or 6 dollars it costs now for that one alone.

I hear you man. I've been to like 5 different museums and I think I've seen enough paintings to last me the rest of my life. And I have a few dozen movies on disc; those should last me to my death, right?

Oh good, that was a woman. That doubt's been nagging at me since last night.

The only real issue is the voice-over from the end, which is just terrible. You could the movie like a reverse Dark City and just mute that whole bit.

Superman came first, I think. Batman Beyond would also be cool though.

Nah, next up is Superman: TAS.

Protip: Much like , The Thick Of It, all the episodes are on YouTube. Mediocre quality, but they are available.

"There used to be a graying tower alone on the sea/You became/The light on the dark side of me/Did you know/That when it snows/My eyes become large/And the light that you shine can't be seen?"

It's a very thin line, I know.

That sounds believable. Still doesn't explain them skipping from BC to Portland in that last leg of the tour.

I'm shocked that Gibbard isn't playing Seattle. I would have loved getting really drunk and singing along to the whole album with my other mid-20s friends until we got kicked out. Guess I'll just have to do that at home. Again.

Hating one woman isn't misogyny. Hating all women is. It's the difference between blues music and nu-metal.

Shoshanna is a fantastic name to yell out over the horizon.

@avclub-664a26f366b9ef4988631e95af9b366d:disqus It's still canon that Joker knows and doesn't care. Who else knows? Hush and Hugo Strange? I know Riddler forgot it a while back.

She's the closest any of us are going to get to seeing James Brown perform. Seeing her do "It's A Man's Man's Man's Man's World" live was one of my highlights for last year.

That was a dumb move on Bruce's part, but it can be weakly written off as raw arrogance. He also didn't have many people to defend at that point (just Robin, as that was pre-Alfred if I'm remembering right) and never expected to have a family built up around him.

The issue was a failure because every single powerful element of the plot was done off-screen because it was also incredibly implausible. How did Joker get into the Batcave? How did he develop a new form of his Joker gas infused with a radioactive, artificial element? What did he say to the sidekick crew to make them
