I'm pretty tired of hipster parodies at this point, but the rest of this episode was gold, and the Mentos commercial ending was fucking great.

Just my take but I felt the first 3 episodes struggled a bit to adjust to the Netflix format, but 4-8 are great and 9-13 is the best stretch of episodes the show has had yet. Overall I think this season was better than S1, which got a little wobbly at the end.
Never underestimate the narrative complexities of Daddy's Boy
You might be right there, but I'm guessing (hoping?) the non-stereotypical gay characters of the past few years pushed her to create a character like Mikey. He's definitely a breath of fresh air.
I feel like UKS is actually a little more grounded than post-S1 30 Rock, which basically didn't try at all to ground its characters since it was a showbiz satire rather than a rather dark comedy. Other than the more-emotional-than-expected final season, it's hard to see 30 Rock doing anything as emotionally effecting…
I don't think it's particularly better but they're very similar so if you've been accustomed to it via 7 years of 30 Rock, you'd probably be used to it by UKS. The Fey/Carlock style of comedy is very distinctive and I can get why people tire of it, but for me it's basically comedy catnip.
You're pretty much right. Honestly though, the culture was pretty different during the early part of 30 Rock's run vs. now so I think that contributes it. I think Max from Happy Endings might've been the first gay character in a sitcom who wasn't at all stereotypical.
I'm guessing you didn't watch 30 Rock?
Tina said that S3 will likely be ready by May 2017. Considering S1 came out in March 2015 and S2 in April 2016, isn't that the same time length?
I prefer S2 to S1, particularly the back half.
New Girl is doing doubles because it has a 22-episode season that didn't start until January. It's been renewed for S6, though.
Or maybe the satire in this episode was just really surface-level and terrible? There are defenses to be made of the Native American plot - some have been made in this comments section. But rather than using any of those valid defenses the show just threw its hands up and said "EW YOU GUYS ARE JERKS!". A huge blemish…
I find it really hilarious and wonderful that an idiotic comment Ted Cruz made to desperately pander to Middle America completely bit him in the ass and might have wind up costing him any shot at winning the nomination.
I'm 22, I love golden age Simpsons and Bernie Sanders, I just REALLY don't want to live in Donald Trump's America.
I don't like Hillary much and I couldn't give a shit about parties, but I will do absolutely anything to stop a lunatic like Trump or Cruz from getting the presidency. I'll take "boring status quo" over "terrifying backwards slide into fascism" any day of the week.
I could kind of see both Troy and Abed being BernieBros.
The Brooklyn Nine-Nine list is ABSOLUTE BULLSHIT. In what world is Holt a Trump supporter?!
But it's not really just a "joke", it's a central part of the character's backstory that they try to wring pathos out of. If it were a weird background thing like Kenneth's immortality on 30 Rock it might be a different story.
I think the show needed to have Rebecca and Josh get together at some point, only for her to realize it's not what she wants.
I was really happy to see Heather and Rebecca bonding/chatting like they did in the beginning of the season. I hope we get more of that dynamic in S2. Heather works best as a grounded foil to Rebecca (kind of an anti-Paula).
