Marry Me ended last week.
Honestly, I thought this was the strongest episode in a while. It kinda weakened after Update, but the first half was the most consistent laughs I've had from SNL in a while (SNL40 not included).
Yeah it changes for me if I tell myself that the dress is blue and black and see the picture of the woman in the dress that Teti posted. But when I originally see it, it's always white and gold. I basically have to train my brain to realize it's blue and black.
I think these episodes were filmed before the allegations came out, so maybe next season?
All of these episodes seem to be taking place during the summer too, so it's totally possible. Abbi and Ilana mentioned during their Fresh Air interview that they were playing around with the idea of each episode taking place one after the other.
Maybe we just have different expectations of this show, because I love Season 2 and Destination Wedding is my favorite episode of Season 1.
I think Tumblr's heart is almost always in the right place, but they seem to have difficulty grasping the concept of satire sometimes.
Wisdom Teeth through Hashtag FOMO was an incredible run…like, best of all time run. The last two haven't been at that level, but most things aren't.
I'm hoping they announce S6 is the last, but plan a movie of some sort as the series finale.
And this is why S6 really needs to be the last.
Trans panic would be if Abbi rushed to deny Bevers' claims, rather than just kinda goin' with it.
I didn't think this episode was one of their funniest but it was the first one that felt kind of arc-y, from Bevers potentially moving out to Ilana addressing her and Lincoln's relationship. And it was still pretty damn funny, so.
In the S2 trailer there was a scene of Abbi and Ilana back at the dress shop. So maybe!
Saying that the show isn't as good this season is a valid opinion (even if I don't agree) but saying that anything on this show is "something you could see on CBS" is totally off-point…have you ever watched CBS?
I haven't really seen any negative responses to it. I agree that the joke didn't seem like it was really on the transgender experience, more on Abbi and Bevers.
Fun fact: apparently the episode was co-written by Megan Ganz.
I know it's mentioned in the review but I just have to give another special shout out to "I LOVE HAMBURGERS AND DUI'S"
It's hard for me to imagine S1's tone being very sustainable. It was almost relentlessly cruel and surprisingly dark, and not in a good way. They were right to make the change, but it's interesting to watch it now knowing what the show became. Interesting article though.
I thought the darkest time for Parks & Rec was when they put it on hiatus after Season 2 and replaced it with Outsourced. But really every year was a nailbiter for Parks - New Girl was a huge hit in Season 1, still a pretty big hit in Season 2 and was safe for syndication reasons in Season 3, this is the first year…
