Aw, come on. Lots of good people have been involved in shitty things.

"TEACHERS NEED BREAKS TOO, AMY"

My biggest problem with it is that it really had no idea what it wanted to be. I mean, there wasn't even an attempt to introduce us to these characters or their world and that's a problem because that's pretty much the only thing I ask for a pilot to do well. What is this show even supposed to look like week to week?

Also, like, who are any of these people? They didn't even bother to introduce anyone.

It's nice how out of all of the great things network comedies could've learned from Broad City, the only thing they took away from it was "let's have an annoying bearded ginger guy!!!!".

This entire pilot is basically an illustration of his stand-up so far, which is…weird. I love his stand-up but it feels so unnatural in this setting.

Mulaney probably sucks (25 minutes until we find out!) but I still find its RT consensus offensive:

Yeah, my only real complaint was that it wasn't super funny, but it was so creative and well-done that I didn't mind.

I thought this was one of the shows' all-time best episodes. I do agree there was some minor wonkiness in the beginning but that ending was so damn amazing that it erased any problems it had.

Mulaney really doesn't fit in with the block at all, which will hurt it. B99 is at least sort of tonally on par with the animated comedies in that its fast-paced and a little cartoonish, but a '90s throwback sitcom in the middle of a night of mostly animated comedy?

I think Season 8 is a little inconsistent but it's also maybe the most interesting season critically, because of how it feels like the true "final season" of the classic years. It really does feel like the show going all-for-broke, as if it was convinced it was about to end. So while I prefer the wall-to-wall

The thing about Season 5 is that even though it had clunkers, it all came together in a way that made even the weak episodes seem like they served an important purpose. That was key because Doctor Who seasons have a tendency to completely fall apart at the end. So if 8 has a killer ending then I'd be happy to declare

I don't really think there is an overall "online majority" with Doctor Who, the show and fanbase are so sprawling and huge that there's not a whole lot of consensus. You say you hear mostly bad things about 11's tenure, but I've always seen people being overall positive over it and feeling as if it was an improvement

I could see how some could make parallels, but Doctor Who has never been political on that level before and I don't see why it would start now. And I don't see how the episodes' final argument could be tied to abortion at all, unless we're talking "abortions of babies that threaten all of humanity."

Is it me or has this been, like, a really good season of Doctor Who?

I'm sure the show is rocky but I will say that ads are generally a terrible thing to judge a show by. They usually choose the broadest, hackiest jokes for them.

I'm glad to see a somewhat positive review. Pretty much everyone has been tearing it apart and I would hate for John Mulaney to be known to most people as "the guy that made that really shitty Fox sitcom."

At least Bevvers is supposed to be horrible. The Bevvers rip-offs in the network shows are supposed to be the "quirky best friend" despite being just as horrible.

I agree. I wanted my six seasons but I really hope this is the last one. I want a final season that sends the remaining characters off in a good way and then - eventually, at some point - a movie that reunites everyone again (maybe not Chevy, just because it'd be hard to see that working.)

That season feels like the last time South Park was "great" to me (that was also the season of Broadway Bro Down). There's been a few great episodes since, but mostly it just feels like the show is going through the motions now.
