SNL NEEDS MORE WHITE DUDES

It is kind of strange that the Doctor Who version of Earth has seen countless alien attacks at this point and yet seems completely surprised every time it happens. Though to be fair, they lampshade this pretty well with Donna's character who is conveniently out of town every time there's an alien experience.

Yeah, a "romcom" and a show about an ongoing marriage are two very different things.

I don't know, they just don't do it for me. I don't hate them or anything, I just don't care about them as much as the show wants me to. The build-up was good but, like most great sitcom romances, they fizzled for me once they actually got together. "I love you and I like you"…ugh.

The Ben/Leslie romance is actually one of my least favorite things about Parks & Rec. But there's enough good stuff that it doesn't really sink the show.

Yeah, but Cheers and Friends were about more than their romantic plots and had large ensembles to fall back on when they didn't have anywhere to go with the romcom stuff. Shows like The Mindy Project and A to Z are basically trying to be 100% rom-com. (Mindy kind of tries to be a workplace comedy sometimes but it

Unquiet Dead is a decent episode, but I always felt like Dickens just hanging out there and not really having anything to do with the plot was kind of random. The character was good, though.

Yeah, other than Vincent and the Doctor which may or may not qualifty, Unicorn and the Wasp is probably my favorite of the form (and even then I think it's one of the weakest episodes of the overall strong S4). I can't really explain why, I just found its brand of silliness to be a little bit more controlled than

People like to shit on Season 6 but I think it's a pretty great season if you ignore the dumb mystery (which, admittedly was a big part of it). But in terms of stand-alone episodes it was pretty great - The Doctors' Wife, The Girl Who Waited and The God Complex are all "best of the new series" candidates.

This entire episode seemed far more suited for 11 to me. I mean, I get that they don't want every 12 episode to be dark and nihilistic but it almost seemed like this episode was written for the 11th Doctor, right down to some of the dialogue.

I really, really don't like that episode. It rubs me the wrong way. And it's also kind of a slog.

Eh, I don't know, something just always rubs me the wrong way about these "let's travel into the past and mess around with a historical figure!" episodes (even if this one happened to be a fictional character). I feel like they always forget to write a story around them and are instead content to just run around and

Gatiss is pretty unpopular, generally, at least around here. I don't think he's ever written a great episode. This one, Cold War, and Unquiet Dead are probably the best and I'd rank them as decent. Idiot's Lantern and Victory of the Daleks are awful.

Aw man. RIP.

I really like Mulaney but this…does not look good.

It's the same guy?! I didn't even realize that. He was awful there, too.

It's a pretty insufferable show and the fact that I don't totally despise it shows how good Milioti and Feldman are. I don't have a lot of hope for it, though and I wish they had a better outlet for their talents. (I feel like I'm going to be saying that a lot this season.)

I am watching the A to Z pilot.

I don't know if I would go as far as "really good" but after watching some newer episodes in the marathon, I'm comfortable with saying it's still mostly decent with the potential to occasionally be great. It's not essential viewing whatsoever but it's certainly not a bad thing to keep on in the background. I was

So…Doctor Who fans, what are we thinking of this season so far? I thought "Deep Breath" was an okay start, but I really liked "Into the Dalek". I know it's cool to hate on Moffat these days, but I felt like this last episode really had that twisty Moffat touch that's been missing since the end of Season 6.
