Is the AVclub just now discovering synthwave/outrun music? This has been around for awhile, way before Stranger things. Check out Carpenter Brut, Perturbator, or Gost if you are into this sort of thing. Or the excellent neros77 youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/use…

I was incredibly disappointed to discover that this cover was not the Reba McIntire song. That would have been much better.

I spent this whole article mixing up Jawbreaker and Jawbox. I realize now that I don't think I've ever heard anything by Jawbreaker. For your own special Sweetheart is a kickass album, though, especially for a major label debut.

As compelling as the Tamil Tiger background is, I think I'd much rather see a documentary about Diplo.

For what it's worth, Lorenzo Lamas was pretty hilarious in the episode of "The Eric Andre show" he appeared on.  He definitely was a highlight on this show, a shame he left first.

I was surprised by how much I liked this, seconding regular coverage.

No love for Grant Morrison's The Invisibles? Now that would be impossible to film.

So I just noticed last night that Vernon Chatman (Wondershowzen, Xavier:Renegade Angel) is the producer for this episode of Louie.  Just struck me as odd.

I've only heard the soundtrack to this, because I'm a big Johann Johannson fan (which feels weird to type).  Now I guess I have to seek out the movie.

I could never explain to anyone why I liked this show.  It was certainly a glorious mess.  Something about his ability to capture a tone I couldn't describe with no real plot to speak of.  It was almost Lynchian, but without being bogged down by Lynch's personal motifs and obsessions.

I kind of like "Winnie Cooper is a Goddamned Whore".   Kim Jong Ill indeed.

Goes to the wrong game.

Delillo
I've never heard of the band "Airborne Toxic Event", but I am reading White Noise at the moment. So I was confused about why the song didn't talk about Hitler Studies more.

Names
the name of the band dudes is Gary Ealey and Scott Hendy.

alternate ending
I'm sure we've all seen it, but these comments need more of it:

Sweet, thanks!

the Wire
I was pretty disappointed when I discovered that The AVClub didn't have classic Wire recaps. I am slowly working my way through the show, and want informed commentary, damnit!

Why On Earth..
would they put his show up against the Daily show? My perfect late-night viewing line-up would be Daily Show, Colbert, drift off to sleep to Conan. Stewart is already beating Letterman and Leno, how is Conan going to compete?
