Not really what I was getting at, but always love the gratuitous outrage.

Before Sunrise had such a profound impact on me when I first saw it, which was right before I spent a year traveling and living in Europe. I had grand fantasies that I too would meet some lively and intellectual French girl on a train. This, of course, did not happen, and I ended up spending most of that year alone.

Read that Pitchfork described this as a "serviceable" Ryan Adams album. After one listen, I don't see that to be the case. This is the most enjoyable he's been since Heartbreaker.

Heartbreaker > Strangers Almanac > Pneumonia

From Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain, I think the most intriguing stuff can be heard on Stop Breathing, Elevate Me Later, and Gold Soundz.

I don't have any particular distaste for early Green Day. I was at an age in the early 90s when I enjoyed listening to them.

Fair enough. I know their sound is certainly unwieldy and chaotic to some, and that it's a frequently made criticism from a lot of folks. I'm just one of those annoying Pavement fans that honestly believes they made two or three perfect albums.

Also, I can't immediately think of another indie rock band that released an album in 94 that can really compare in terms of any measure of quality. Unless of course you're a big Green Day fan and think Dookie is some sort of canonical work.

Yes, I think the guitar work on that album is incredible. And yes, I think your opinion that they sound like a high school band is silly and doesn't really make a lot of sense. I can understand if you do not like them, but understand that you're in a slim minority in calling them talentless.

Surely these are the end times.

I vehemently disagree! The guitar work, especially on Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain, was better than everything else being made at the time.

Lol. Agreed.

I mean yeah, the "urban contemporary" or whatever is complete bullshit. But I still think the larger issue in terms of the actual giving out awards part is judging merit. Of course, it is all about money at the end of the day.

I think the larger issue with the Grammy's is not race. I feel like plenty of black artists frequently bring home Grammy awards. I may be wrong, but I think Kanye, Jay-Z and Stevie Wonder have all won well over 20 Grammy's each. The actual issue is the Grammy's do not actually give out awards for the best

I keep assuming that the shock and outrage I feel daily will eventually wear off. I am beginning to think it will only continue, and that is hugely depressing.

Can't wait until MCU finally drowns itself in excess. It has to happen soon, right?

Harsh, bro. Harsh.

I'm in love with her.

WHAT! I agree that their earlier stuff is a bit burdensome, but fuck man, Shields is a bona fide masterwork.

And let's be honest, indie rock peaked when a band called Pavement was making music in the early to mid-90s.
