Or I'll just watch something better.
No, not really. Notice also that I qualified the "low replay value" item to myself, not to be taken as an objective truth. No doubt there are those who listen to this album all the time. I can still recognize that something is a masterpiece while not necessarily connecting with it on a personal level.
Never thought outrageously gratuitous sex and violence could be boring. And then Game of Thrones existed.
Okie dokie, let me add to that list. Tracks like u, Blacker the Berry, and Hood Politics all have really interesting things to say. TPAB definitely doesn't have the same replay value for me as does GKMC, but I still accept the fact that it's a masterpiece.
I listen closely, and to suggest that songs like How Much a Dollar Cost, Sing About Me, I'm Dying of Thirst, or Real have no depth or profundity is, for lack of a less insulting word, stupid.
Ha! Although I admit to having my own issues with TPAB, this is a foolish thing to say!
Both of which are great, not good.
yup
TPAB was a hard album for me to love. It is a great, great album, don't get me wrong. But there were times when I wished Kendrick would just rap his ass off like he did on good kid.
The killing off of Anya in the series finale was egregious and unforgivable.
Rachel's death during the final season of Mad Men. Even though she was a *relatively* minor character, her death pretty much set that whole final season in motion and it made me sad sad sad.
Again, I don't disagree with you. I also believe that Avon and String were narcissistic and very much set in motion their own fates. That being said, the episode previous (the one where Avon and String have a heart-to-heart, even as they both had already fucked one another over), still makes String's death pretty…
I don't disagree with you. However, how someone doesn't even feel the slightest bit of emotion watching String die after Avon and his convo an episode before I can't comprehend.
Oh, yes. Lane's death was horrible. Never quite got over that either.
The only positive thing about the Charlie Pace character were the string of episodes leading up to his death. His send-off was perfect but man, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't hoping for it since middle of Lost S1.
SPOILER!!!!
Yeah, I also really enjoyed The New World. It's essentially the last time Malick dealt at all with established dialogue and a preconceived script.
I saw Tree of Life when it opened to a semi-wide release and, in an effort to not sound cliché af, I thought it was a life-changing moment. That movie contained so much of what I was dealing with emotionally at the time, and each time I revisit the film that central feeling holds up.
Absolutely. Strangely enough, in aggressively defending this show to my best friend, I told him to sit down and just watch this episode. He pretty much said everything was incredible until the vampire scene, at which point he lost interest.
