Yeeeee!
Yeeeee!
Just got home from seeing it. It's very, very good, and Scott is very, very good in it. I don't think I'd ever need to see it again, but it was definitely worth the price of admission, and the time flew by.
@avclub-b3a2a8592133a41f00f271712390f206:disqus I dealt with the issue by eating sushi, then heading to the theater.
@EIDan I think it's about 85% true, 10% psychological ("raw fish = slimy yucky"), and 5% honestly subjective taste. For instance, I didn't realize how poorly my mother cooked for years until I moved away from the heartland, came to California, and my first girlfriend schooled me, starting with spinach. After a few…
I regret that I have but one "like" to give for your commentary.
…is that second photo of Stillwater?

I'd go:
@avclub-ef7d8ff636c7f5e86f5e63b5acfd2859:disqus I think there's maybe one track from the album I left on my phone. Nothing really stuck.
@avclub-b48dd5fc197031c2049eee6b819c8768:disqus It sounds like Bowie to me.
@Pixie Solanas
Yep.
Yeah — I think SUPERGRASS has weak spots, but it's got some cuts that really shine. DIAMOND HOO HA is the only one I don't get much out of at all.
Supergrass' LIFE ON OTHER PLANETS and ROAD TO ROUEN are more than "decent." I'd argue LIFE is their best album by a nose, in fact. It's fantastic.
I thought the art direction in general was really bad. I know that the tackiness was intentional, but it seems like at least a few characters could have pulled off the tacky with some actual style. The closest thing to that was Kravitz's character himself —- mainly because of great restraint — and so it became triply…
It's very watchable and gets really steadyicam when the lead develops his powers enough to not have to hold it any longer.
I'd go with a tie between Theron in YA and Hardy in Warrior.
Then Michelle Williams, then Serkis.
Haven't seen KEVIN, so I can't say about Swinton, but she's usually terrific.
Um… THE FLY?
Wow! This was supposed to reply to the "GOOODFELLAS kinda drags" argument. Not sure how it got here; especially ironic since I think HUGO is particularly un-involving until the last third or so.
I watched the first season and thought it was quite good, but didn't know what all the fuss was about (roughly three years into the run). Then I started the second season and the shift of focus kicked in and I realized it was structured like a dense novel, and at that point, realized it was something truly special.…
I think the UK version of THE OFFICE is amazing work. What I've seen of EXTRAS is almost like a decent but not-particularly-compelling B-side to a fantastic single.
My resolution is to disengage with pop culture a bit. This stuff should be dessert, not every course of every meal.
