HOTEL NEW HAMPSHIRE
Kinda glad they skipped it. that movie was baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad.

I wish it were better
It seemed like all the elements were there, but this is a movie with a few good moments, a few good ideas, and it just doesn't really work.

Mary Tyler Moore
Hoo yeah.

Yup. Not quite CHILDREN OF MEN, but impressive. That whole film is a technical masterpiece. The dirt mattress scene could've been excerpted and won best short film.

Spot on
Yay for writing up GERRY. I fucking love this movie. And, yes, it's funny as hell in spots.

Bay City Blues
I remember this one was a good show cut down almost immediately.

I wonder if Firefox is having a problem. I only count seven, including this one.

I bought a copy of SILENCE at a library booksale years ago. Read a few pages and put it down, still meaning to get back to it. Yay, me.

I'm a big fan of Here.

GO INSANE
I still love that album.

This looked like a must-avoid until I read the review and also saw that Demme directed it. Then I got excited for this weekend and checked and, of course, it's not playing here.

Why the hell did so many people slag on her in that movie? I thought she was terrific.

Good Will Hunting, Gone Baby Gone, Assassination, Gerry… the guy picks some good fucking movies, and then really shows up.

Our local paper had an article in which the writer said his 17 year-old daughter picked up the phone and said, "Hey, Dad, it's some guy named Paul Newman" and he had to school her on who Paul Newman was. That's pretty sad.

Nice observations.

Paul Newman as Quint
…would that mean we wouldn't have had the Indianapolis monologue?

We could crawl but I'd rather drive.

I didn't say she wasn't working; I said she needs better roles. She was about the only good thing about SPEED besides the movie being fodder for a pretty great Simpsons joke.

But she was undeniably great in sex, lies.

Sandra Bullock
Bollock really needs to fire her agent. She's a fine actress who gets, for the most part, crappy, crappy work.
